IT surpassed the OW of Wonder Woman to become the biggest OW of year for Warner in the follow countries:

Spain: $3.1m x $2.4m

UK: $12.3m (!!!!) x $7.9m

Russia: $6.7m x $3.9m

Australia: $5.9m x $5m

Netherlands: $1.4m x 900k

Poland: $1.15m x 326k

And keep an eye on Mexico's numbers next week where IT's buzz is out of the world and it is expected to challenge BATB to become the second biggest OW of year there.

Dunkirk did more than IT in the UK OW wise so that's not correct. Also Lego Batman did more than Wonder Woman in the UK as well. That's not to say WW did poorly, it had a solid run for a superhero film.

So far, IT isn't scared of sports, adult life, OR Hurricane Irma.

Imagine how things would be if Florida wasn't getting hit with the storm this weekend. The numbers would be even higher than they already are.

Should have opened Labor Day weekend. $140m for the 3-day and $170m for the 4-day would have been in play.

Phenomenal weekend!

Next weekend shall be interesting too. Can mother break 20M?

Maybe not. It opening so big will probably hurt Mother, that and apparently it's not exactly audience-friendly either. I'm currently predicting 15m, but hope it opens better.

Why isnt Labor Day Weekend a spot for tentpoles? A 4-Day Weekend and the (usually) quite empty slate of September. Seems good for me. Is there a particular reason why Hollywood just ignores that weekend?

You're right, for some reason I thought Dunkirk had an one week release in UK, but IT came so close to Dunkirk that I wonder if IT can challenge DK tomorrow with the actual numbers?

Torture porn movies have never been even remotely scary, calling them horror movies seems wrong. And I just flat out loathe found footage horror movies. I refuse to watch them.

Found footage films are often an easy lazy way of doing a horror film. There are some that work just fine, but the worst are practically unwatchable, & I usually can't stand them.

I wonder what Kingsman's reviews will be like...lately I've been getting mediocre vibes despite really liking the trailers.

The few early reactions I found seem to suggest it's more of the same, so I can see it having mixed reviews. Maybe around 50% on rotten tomatoes.

In local currency, IT is £0.5m behind Dunkirk's OW so it's going to be close.

5 years ago I thought R-rated movie will be dissapear and we stay only with comedies.

And now... Sniper, horrors, Gone Girl, Kingsman, Revenant, Deadpool, etc.

Comedies are on life support these days.

Girls Trip and to a lesser extent Hitman's Bodyguard were the only break outs this year (so far).
