Can't wait to see which two writers will be honored by the Nobel Committee in October.

My ranking of people I would bet on. Total intuition:

  1. Adunis (most likely)
  2. Milan Kundera (good candidate. Jerusalem Prize)
  3. Peter Carey (a good candidate)
  4. Thomas Keneally (Maybe? Famous book made into acclaimed Spielberg movie)
  5. Don Delillo (maybe? Jerusalem Prize winner)
  6. Haruki Murakami (maybe? Jerusalem Prize winner. Franz Kafka Prize Winner)
  7. A. S. Byatt (good choice)
  8. Louise Erdrich (good choice)
  9. John Banville (Franz Kafka Prize winner)
  10. Hans Magnus Enzensberger (Poems For People Who Don't Read Poems. 👀)
  11. Adam Zagajewski (maybe)
  12. Antonio Muñoz Molina (Jerusalem Prize winner)
  13. Karl Ove Knausgaard (Scandinavian and a Jerusalem prize winner)
  14. António Lobo Antunes (Jerusalem Prize Winner)
  15. Margaret Atwood (but they also gave it to a Canadian recently. Franz Kafka Prize winner)
  16. Joyce Carol Oates (Jerusalem Prize winner)
  17. Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o (maybe, I don't really know)
  18. Ayi Kwei Armah (all I know is that western critics know about his work)
  19. Salman Rushdie (Controversy!)
  20. Cormac McCarthy (probably not)
  21. Thomas Pynchon (probably not)
  22. Stephen King (man I don't even know)
  23. Kevin Hart ( 👀)

edit: this post was edited extensively.

I think any two of these people could win.

Spoiler

Kevin Hart is also the name of an Australian poet.

NHL preseason is upon us!

Who are our resident NHL fans again? @Porthos I know you said you were following the Sharks in the playoffs but you're not necessarily a fan. I remember also coming across a Colorado fan here I think.

Casually remember to check things out every few weeks during the regular season might be the better way to put it. ;)

It’s an upcoming streaming service created by Jeffrey Katzenberg. It’s “gimmick” is that it’s mobile-only, and instead of 22-minute or 44-minute episodes, they are all cut up into bite-sized, 10 minutes or less.

I hate every word there too

LMAO everything about that sounds terrible.

Here in the UK we have a lot of streaming services and you may be surprised at how many of them manage to find their own success.

Competing against Netflix and Amazon Prime, Now TV, BFI Player, Disneylife, and mubi have all been successful.

Although if the big new US ones are given budgets to match netflix and the like, then they will implode.

Oh and also it should go without saying that a princess bride remake is an awful idea.
