Yeah this really doesn't make him look good at all.

Don't tell me these texts are the supposed "written statements" recanting the abuse... Majors was better off saying nothing, really, and he's being represented by an incompetent or absolute clown.

It's such a shame, and they have a child, so she will have to deal with him even if she leaves.

That is the trouble wiht many "Showbiz" lawyers. They have gone Hollywood, and are more concerned about PR and show then the actual nitty girtty of the law. The tape is not nearly as exculpetory as the lawyer claimed, and now it will back fire on him.

Apparently, it's the same lawyer who represented Jen Shah, the Real Housewife now in prison for fraud, and Paul Haggis in his rape case (he was found liable). Her lawyering style seems to be publicly putting forward a lot of bluster and victim-blaming. Maybe it's the best Majors could do in this circumstance, which really isn't saying much...

As someone who is all in on law and crime culture (for better or worse lol), these celebrity lawyer types are the absolute worst kind there is, no matter if it's Alan Dershowitz or Mark Geragos or Gloria Allred (not as awful as the other two but still mostly has herself to blame for the "ambulance chaser" status that she's long held in pop culture). People who love to see themselves on camera as much as any working actor in Hollywood does, maybe even more so. Tend to check out whenever these folks (and, whether fair or not, be skeptical of the people who seek them out) make an appearance instead of giving them the time of day.

Majors, his lawyer, whoever is an idiot for thinking this would help him.

When you're facing criminal charges and your lawyer is leaking texts to TMZ, it's time to get another lawyer lol.

I wonder if we're going to get more details on all the supposed incidents with Majors from the NY theater types and not just "everyone knows" vagueness...

Meanwhile, I'm sad that the Paltrow trial is now over with the jury deliberating and that this whole circus will be completely done soon. For now on I'm gonna pretend that this silliness is what she really won her Oscar for.

Nothings going on. Teflon Don will be set free and president AGAIN.

And that would be the end of America as a Democracy.

And I don;t think that would  happen. Even if he skates, the trial will be damaging to Trump, and lose him all but his hard core followers.

The teflon has work off.

Not a good record.

But there are quite a few lawyers like that in Hollywood..how ,since most of them don't do well in getting thier clients off, they keep getting lucrative clienst I don't get.

With Majors, it's probably about winning tthe court of public opinion. There are enough teenagers and misogynists around who will see those texts and not be able/willing to recognize the dynamic going on. "See? She said no strangulation. She said grabbed for his phone: she started it!"

There's always an online defense brigade that exists for anything a celebrity does, but in domestic violence cases especially, a certain segment will always blame the woman. Here, you will also get people saying the charges are just an attempt to take down a successful Black man. I'm guessing whatever video there is won't look good for Majors and his team is hoping enough people out there will buy the girlfriend as the instigator. IDK if this case will ever get to a jury, in that case you only need one person to take his side and he walks.

Or, this lawyer is actually a double agent, getting justice for abusers by appealing to their vanity so much that they don't notice the incompetent representation. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Because celebrity lawyers try to become "brands" too, instead of crusaders for justice. And sometimes, it isn't just about representing celebrities accused of stuff either. Take Allred, for instance. She wasn't always the go-to lawyer for mistresses, porn stars, or any woman accusing a famous male actor/athlete/musician/politician of sexual assault, but that's what she's more or less become over the decades (seriously, why did several of Tiger Woods' alleged mistresses need a lawyer again?) after building a solid resume being involved in several famous cases you've definitely heard of in hopes of staying in the spotlight (and improving her already massive bank account). It probably doesn't matter that it's been a while since she can truly be credited with winning a case in a courtroom, or accomplishing much other than hosting the kind of tawdry press conferences alongside alleged victims that you sometimes see satirized in pop culture (ala Gone Girl) and typically flame out shortly after (sometimes due to the story not catching on, sometimes due to hush money settlements from the famous male eager to make the female accuser go away - an NDA that financially benefits the lawyer almost as much as it does their client). Being known as "The Lawyer Lady From TV" who knows how to work the media and frame narratives as well as any Hollywood publicist does is good enough for some looking primarily to get their allegations in the national news.

The same can also sort of be said about Mark Geragos. It's hard to think of anyone else who managed to fail upwards into becoming a legal superstar and a go-to lawyer for plenty of shady famous people (mostly men) as much as he has. Really reinforces just how all-around celebrity-obsessed our culture is well beyond actors (no one will ever convince me that Trump would've ever ascended to ultimately becoming POTUS without that moment about a decade prior when The Apprentice was one of the hottest things on TV).

Lawyers enjoy a mostly negative reputation in pop culture and are easy to make fun of (at least until you find yourself in potential trouble and need one), but there's also plenty of them out there who do work toward achieving justice despite the most famous examples out there being people who have largely earned their "opportunist" status.

My sister is a lawyer so I agree. THey get a bum rap. She says among Lawyers themselves the attitude is "everybody hates us until they need us".
