Holy hell, The Mummy is so misguided that it makes me wish I was watching Russell Crowe as Javert on loop for two hours instead.

They really really really want Crowe to be their Nick Fury, but "Just here for the paycheck" may as well be tattooed on his forehead.

Anyone here taken a long-distance Amtrak route? Is the experience worth forgoing a faster but seedier Greyhound?

I've taken the Acela Express a couple times. It's faster than a Greyhound. But also more regional than pure long-distance.

Yeah, I don't mean the NE route that's truly efficient. I'm taking the Capitol Limited and Pennsylvanian to/from the Mid-Atlantic at the end of the month. Going to take a really long time but hoping the scenery I can't experience any other way makes it worth it.

I've taken trains up/down the west coast, once or twice. It's very pleasant if you aren't in any rush. Much nicer than a bus in that you can get up, move around, stretch your legs, etc. But yeah, it takes a long-ass time.

Still, one of my nice memories from my college days is taking a Sacramento-Portland night train and waking up at dawn as we were going through the Cascades. Snow all around, it was gorgeous.

I'm really not keen on riding Greyhound for awhile after my ordeal getting to/from New York. Really poor management and transparency. And all their service to DC stops in Baltimore first so I didn't think it was fast enough to make it a real compelling choice.

Planning on spending 2 days in both DC and Baltimore but DC is my priority so I'd probably just take a later MARC to B-More if I end up getting delayed.

I have 15 out of the 75 volunteers I need for my experiment after a few days of putting up fliers.  I'm offering paid compensation through my funding so I'd expect it to fill a little more quickly.  I'll need to figure out a better technique without breaking the IRB code (sadly I can't over emphasize the payment aspect)

I'd definitely be down for Fire Emblem and Metroid films.

God I feel volatile right now. A really good friend of mine who honestly is one of the people who convinced me that pursuing theater again full time had a going-away party today. Her financial aid got fucked up, and so she has to leave to go back to Texas since she's not studying here anymore. I'm not crying though I feel like I should be. Graduation's just a few months away but I'm not ready to say goodbye to anyone yet. She was legitimately one of the first people who told me after a two-year-long break that I was a good actor and that my writing was worthwhile. If it wasn't for her and a couple of other people, I'd still be so fucking miserable within the cinema major right now. I wouldn't have written a full length play and I wouldn't have been Mr. Tumnus last fall. God I'm so mad at this world for not letting her graduate with me and the rest of our class in Spring, and I fucking hate that it has to be this way.

I'm gonna cry so much tomorrow, but for now I just feel numb because legit I don't know if I'll ever see her again and that fucking sucks
