Yeah, all things considered (being a long in the tooth franchise that "ended" not that long ago, "torture porn" falling completely out of fashion), Jigsaw's opening is fine. Probably not enough to revive a franchise, though.

The franchise will find another life. If Jigsaw does around $40 million. Lionsgate should do like a straight to video, or Netflix exclusive for a month then release to home video later on. Other than that, Jigsaw will maybe end the series, but overseas, home video, Netflix, and smaller budgets help it.

Damn, that is hellish for All I See is You. $550 PTA for the whole weekend. Can't say I'm surprised though, there was absolutely no marketing for it.

Would still be a little bit above Breathe PTA of last weekend ($517), is that movie theater run already almost over by the way ? Look like it already lost most of is theater after just one week...

Jigsaw did our equivalent of 7M at my theatre tonight, but that's without Thursday previews being held mind you.

We didn't open suburbicon of TYFYS, and I don't have numbers for anything else. Not worth it, bring on Thor

All I see is You was destined for failure. I do not dislike Lively and the film doesn't look bad but it does look like another hot girl B-lister tries to prove that she can act in a wannabe artsy "classy" film movie.

Blake Lively is obviously a successful actress and I liked her in that shark movie but she has an air of "I want to work with greater directors and break out of my B-movie level" desperation about her.

Every actor or actress wants to work with good directors. It's not desperation. That's the career choice that they made so why wouldn't you want to be the best at your craft? I don't see what's so different about Blake Lively than every other actress or actor in the history of acting.
