Was that me?

Which movie did I bump up? Never heard of Mononoke, btw.

Your list bumped Starship Troopers over Mononoke, a real shame for me as Mononoke was my number 1 and Starship Troopers didn't even make my 25.

lol, I didn't even vote for that.

Of the ones left, I hope Boogie Nights wins, but I think Titanic will win.

I did not include Titanic anywhere on my list as I hated the movie. My #1 and #2 films have not been mentioned yet so there is still hope.

Damn it, I knew I should have left ST out of my list altogether.

I'm not in love with BOOGIE NIGHTS (it didn't make my list). TITANIC wasn't in my top 10 either. But eh, all this is pretty much expected.

try making an effort to watch a bunch of movies and then 2/3 of your top 19 not making the list.

Why guys I hate to disappoint all of you but I'm not going to be able to get through this tonight because my internet connection at home has died. I will get to this tomorrow as soon as everything is been restored and I have a free moment. I sincerely apologize for this.

I saw “died” and thought something serious had happened

Boogie Nights

Written and directed by:  Paul Thomas Anderson

Starring:  Mark Wahlberg, Julianne Moore, Burt Reynolds, Don Cheadle, John C. Reilly

WW box office:  43.1 million

Adult film director Jack Horner is always on the lookout for new talent and it's only by chance that he meets Eddie Adams who is working as a busboy in a restaurant. Eddie is young, good looking and plenty of libido to spare. Using the screen name Dirk Diggler, he quickly rises to the top of his industry winning awards year after year. Drugs and ego however come between Dirk and those around him and he soon finds that fame is fleeting.

Burt Reynolds hated the idea of doing a movie promoting the porn industry, and turned the Jack Horner role down seven times. He also felt like he was selling out, and letting his old fans down. After angrily telling Paul Thomas Anderson the last time offered, he wasn't interested, and to leave him alone, Anderson told him if he could carry that attitude with him to the role, he would be nominated for an Oscar. He subsequently chose to do the film, and was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

When he appeared on Inside the Actors Studio (1994), William H. Macy recalled that at the wrap party, Nina Hartley, who played his character, Little Bill's wife, and who was a real life porn star, gave the cast gifts of her own porn films. Macy's present was a copy of Nina Hartley's Guide to Anal Sex (1996).

Random critic remark:  The Brady Bunch they ain't. But get one thing straight about the constantly surprising Boogie Nights: This R-rated movie is outrageous; it is not obscene. The '70s re-creation - right down to the leisure suits and disco moves - is meant to show the illusion of glamour and the lies that these alleged '70s swingers tell themselves to buy into the fantasy.  4 stars out of 4.  Peter Travers Rolling Stone

Forum Member Comment:  I love this movie. It was so brilliant. Acting is fantastic the screenplay is great and same with the direction. I am surprised Mark could perform such a good performance.  @Dexter of Suburbia

Good Will Hunting

Written by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck

Directed by Gus van Sant

Starring Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Robin Williams, Casey Affleck, Minnie Driver

WW Box Office:  226 million

A young adult by the name of Will Hunting has always been living in the slums. He spends his nights at bars and batting cages with his best friends. However, he has an amazing talent in Mathematics. When Will is almost sent to jail, a professor at MIT decides to bail him out under the condition that he works with him for math every week and that he visits a therapist. Little does he know that the therapist, Sean, will change his life in so many ways.

After Mel Gibson dropped out of directing, Michael Mann expressed interest in directing. However, he wanted to make two major changes: He wanted Will and his friends to be car thieves, and he did not want Matt Damon for the lead role, since he was still relatively unknown then. The producers, who wanted Damon, suggested the Mann film some screentests with Damon and Ben Affleck. After Mann filmed the screentests, he went back to the producers and said he still did not want Damon in the lead, so the producers and Miramax parted ways with Mann, since the film was Damon and Affleck's project from the start.

The script was originally developed by Castle Rock, Rob Reiner's production company. When they didn't know what to do with it, Kevin Smith took the script to Miramax. It became the highest grossing film in Miramax history, until Chicago (2002) topped it.

Random Critic Remark:  It's also heartbreaking when genius won't recognize itself, and that's the most baffling problem of all in “Good Will Hunting,” the smart, involving story of a working-class kid from Boston. Roger Ebert

Forum Member Comment:  AMAZING script and great performances from everyone. Good Will Hunting made me cry my ass off, and I consider it a masterpiece.  @Jack Nevada
