SpongeBob SquarePants: Sponge Out of Water | Paul Tibbitt | Feb. 6, 2015 | First Trailer on Page 9

This has a chance to make $200m DOM?

Not a chance, but $100M is doable. Putting this in February is the smartest decision Paramount has made. November would have been a bloodbath (again) with BH6 and Penguins, but the general weekness of 2014. Spongebob has pretty much zero comp this weekend. Legs should be good, but $200M is way out of reach. Even Simpsons couldnt do it.

The great reviews plus my childhood memories of SpongeBob really, REALLY make me want to see this.

I'm not sure whether I want to watch this or Jupiter Ascending this weekend. If I DO end up seeing this, it'll be with my best friend, who's a big SpongeBob fan.

I have friends coming over this weekend who we've known for over 12 years and we used to be obsessed with SpongeBob. My "squad" if you will :P so there's a chance we may see this.

But my other friend is also in town this weekend, and my "in-town" friends want to get together and see Jupiter...

Me too, I have great memories from the cartoon, plus It has a fun trailer, so that's makes me excited for friday night!

I was watching the old episodes on Nick yesterday. Boy does that bring memories. I dont watch the new episodes, but the old ones were sonme of the best written and plotted cartoon episodes ever. Im not ashamed to be 21 and still calling myself a fan of this.

Paramount knows this and is pushing hard for young adults. Promotion is heavy on MTV and VH1, there was the superbowl spot, and ive seen spots during Greys Anatomy, New Girl, and ESPN basketball. Hoping this can land over $40M. We'll see.

Spongebob: Sponge On the Run is #3 in the app store. Keep in mind the game is a simple mobile side scroller and its $4.99. Pretty impressive. Frozen Free Fall, which is free, never got that high.

I always hated Spomgebob, I still hate Spongebob, I will always hate Soongebob.

That said the first movie wasn't bad ( I only remember one scene, but that one scene was everything The Lego Movie wanted to be)

What scene?
