SpongeBob SquarePants: Sponge Out of Water | Paul Tibbitt | Feb. 6, 2015 | First Trailer on Page 9

So it's going to be 2D, CG and live action and in 3D?  The poster's okay, Spongebob stills looks the same but I'd need to see a trailer before judging. I'm guessing either TMNT or Big Hero 6 will be the debut for the trailer,

That's double the first film's budget but still reasonable considering there is CG animation and live action. Paramount has seen how successful WB and Universal have been releasing animated films under $100m so are jumping on the bandwagon.

I think the film will do well enough. Spongebob is a high rated program for Nick (much as I don't currently like it), and the first film while not be a huge smash, did very well considering its budget.

A superhero sequence should go great with kids considering the recent high popularity of superheroes.

Superheroes have been popular since the 40's... maybe before. Just because the movies based on them took off in the past decade doesn't mean they haven't always been popular.  :P
