I think a lot of Coco's problem comes from the fact that it lost so many theaters.  It's down a lot from both Moana and Tangled in terms of theater count at the same time in their run.  The fact that it still has a higher PTA than Ferdinand despite the fact that Ferdinand has a much higher TC is telling.  The other sad part is that many folks I know who have been putting off seeing it in this area now no longer have options to see it in this area, as it's going down to only one theater in a 20 mile radius this week and most people won't drive too far out of their way unless they REALLY want to see something.

I really like the ST music so far though. Reys Theme from TFA is shaping up to be in my personal Top 3 SW themes and TLJ has many really fantastic pieces.

Rey’s theme and Jedi Steps are the big exception, those are definitely up to par with his OT/PT best. TLJ score is the definition of good but not really memorable for me.

Great TLJ number, i think it could stay flat this weekend... i wouldn't say $ 700M is dead, January could surprise 

 

I'm good with Coco numbers, competition + losing theaters hurt this movie really bad, but it will still gross $ + 200M, which is what i always wanted, so i'm fine, hoping for $ 800M worldwide

SW8 has a shot at 560 by New Years Monday. Needs 105 over next 5 days:

RO had a 66 4-day and added 91 more. That gives SW8 118 more for 560 + 118 = 678 dom

 

Within a couple of days 640-660 is changing to 660-680. Going as low as TA was always silly talk and seems even sillier now.

I wouldn't rule out a possible 700 million domestic, but this weekend numbers will seal the movie's fate, I guess.

Its hold will be a good indicator for how it will be playing into the most barren January in years. Seriously, this January is the definition of wasteland. I think it will boost all the holdovers.

Nah! All the new themes are great, The March of Resistance being my personal favorite.

 

The fact that Williams is able to make new strong material after forty years is a testament to his skill as a composer. It's all very good.

Jumanji is killing it huh.  This is a unexpected, but considering the other movies (sans star wars) aren't doing much, it shouldn't be that big of a surprise

Battle of the Heroes is a really weak theme and conveys nothing. It's brilliantly orchestrated, but it's a rare misfire of a melody from Williams.

Kylo's Theme has really grown on me this go around.  That BAAAAA-BAAA BAABAABAA bit is just great.  In a way, it's as dark and menacing as Vader's theme.  But were Vader's was militaristic and foreboding, Kylo's theme is more primal and frenetic. Yet still oozing with malevolence.

I'm hoping that 3.2x is still alive. The sliver of hope that I had for my original 3.69x is gone. I dared to live the dream 😂

I just love that SW has music thats so much like the epic works of the 19th century. I admire classical music and whenever John Williams is involved in making music it has the same timeless feel about it. 

 

The SW, Harry Potter and Indiana Jones or Jurassic Park music will always be playing somewhere in the world, there will always be someone listening to it. I cant say that about the works of Hans Zimmer for example. His soundtracks are mostly good to great, but they just dont feel  timeless to me.

If JUMANJI averages 15 over Thu-Mon (which is possible as Fri, Sat and Mon should be 15+ while Thu, Sun 15-), then it will be on ~180 dom after a 60+ 4-day.  So need to add 2x the 4-day to get to 300 dom.

 

RO added 1.38x the 4-day. For JUMANJI to do at least 1.5x seems like a safe bet for 180 + 90 = 270 dom, same as SING.

 

We have seen some cases where legs haven't held up after we got excited - WONDER and COCO for eg - so 300 still very tough. But 260-270 seems realistic at least.

Kylo's theme is great. It's not exactly dark as the Imperial March, but instead it's more wild. I really appreciate how it gets fully developed in TLJ. Snoke's theme has also grown on me. It's quite good.
