Ezen Baklattan
My First Man comparison was obviously not a literal one, and it’s still looking good in quite a few categories. It just is hardly the front runner it seemed like it could be when the year started.
SLAM!
One big thing about the Gotham awards is this: the two films with the most nominations/awards are The Favourite and First Reformed; this means that, when the online journalists reported the nominees, they headlined their pieces with "The Favourite, First Reformed lead 2018 Gotham nominees". That certainly can't hurt either film, and it especially can't hurt First Reformed, which is a competitor for Original Screenplay and a dark horse for Best Actor (Ethan Hawke). SLAM!
If Head Full of Honey gains any sort of traction, I can see it getting a nod for Best Cinematography. I'm not sure if they're currently lumping Color Correction in with Cinematography, but I think the Color Correction displayed in the trailer helps the film stand out just a little bit. Being a late-but-not-too-late release won't hurt.

If First Man wins it'll be on the basis of a single track. So I think not Then again I didn't think La La Land had a prayer since its score was recycled themes from the songs so what do I know. CoolioD1
i think it's probably between those two movies. at least among oscar films there isn't much there this year. Star Is Born, The Favourite and Roma don't have original scores.
4815162342
I'll be interested in the shortlist for the category. Edited November 2, 2018 by 4815162342
MovieMan89
If ASIB wins it will be the first BP over 200m even adjusted since Return of the King 15 years ago. I don't think there even were 15 BPs prior to ROTK that missed 200 adjusted. Edited November 12, 2018 by MovieMan89

titanic2187
I will rather that widows sneaks in the final list, instead of that oscar-baity biopic, first man
CoolioD1
Quote Bailey believes that the next Oscars could see the nomination of a wider spectrum of films, including the very popular “Black Panther” alongside “two very uncompromising black and white art films,” Polish foreign language contender “Cold War” and Alfonso Cuaron’s “Roma.” “It will be interesting to see how that plays out,” he added. “It might give us a strong perspective on how to move forward.” seems like he's basically saying "if roma wins we'll add it, if a star is born wins we won't"

And in BP case even the all important timeliness and political relevance. Still not enough. Edited November 13, 2018 by Valonqar
