What if inflation is taken into consideration?

There's no extant method (AFAIK) that can take both inflation and foreign currency fluctuations into account without making massive assumptions not based on solid evidence.

When you account for the fact that making money is my favorite thing to do, it all starts making sense.

Yup, it's time for this list to pop back up again for its bi-annual rotation!  I'm mostly just trying to get this thread up so everyone has the two deadlines well in advance in order to make their full lists.  Feel free to post FYCs and such within this thread!

The Rules

1. Create a list of your 100 favorite movies, ranked, and send them to me by pm.  They must be sent by pm in order to be counted, I won't count lists just posted in this thread.

2. If you notice, there's a hard deadline and a soft deadline.  Once the soft deadline is past you are NOT allowed to edit the ballot you send me.  If you're worried about seeing movies on time, just know you are getting 2 months to watch movies.  If there was a movie you felt like you just had to see before sending in the ballot, you have ample time to do so.

3. Due to survey results from last month, and feedback from the list two years ago, 2018 movies are ineligible for this list.  There's plenty of other quality movies released during the last 100 years you can fit onto your list that aren't Black Panther, it's okay.

4. When you submit your list, you can write out a reason why you chose a movie in your top 10 and I may feature it on the actual countdown (assuming the movie makes the cut).

5. The scoring will be done like this

Number 1: 10 Points

2 through 3: 9 Points

4 through 5: 8 Points

6 through 10: 7 points

11 through 15: 6 Points

16 through 25: 5 Points

26 through 35: 4 Points

36 through 50: 3 Points

51 through 75: 2 Point

76 through 100: 1 Point

Movies will first be ranked by points, if they're tied by points then that tie will be broken by which movie has the movie is on the most lists, if that is tied then it'll go to the movie with the most number 1 picks, then 2 picks, and so on.  In other words, there won't be a tie.

I'll add the previous lists to the main thread tomorrow at some point!

Okay...

1. Titanic

2. Clue

3. The Lion King

4. The Sixth Sense

5. Toy Story 3 (so torn for this spot b/c it's worth more - I think my top 4 are set)

6. The Lord of the Rings trilogy (I can't break these up b/c it really is one concept world - pick the 1st if you have to pick)

7. Rocky 1 and 2 together(this is another set movie for me - I need the underdog to win, so both movies are one for me)

8. Ghost

9. Casablanca

10. Beauty and the Beast (1990)

11. The Matrix

12. Saving Private Ryan

13. Toy Story

14. The Sound of Music

15. A Few Good Men (Jack Nicholson, Tom Cruise, courtroom faceoff - sorry, love this one:)

16. Shrek

17. The Empire Strikes Back

18. Philadelphia (my "home" city, my favorite actors, another underdog...this could have been higher for me:)

19. Scream

20. The Wizard of Oz

21. Ghostbusters (1984)

22. The Producers (1967)

23. Men in Black

24. Galaxy Quest

25. Noises Off

26. Halloween (1978)

27. Terminator 2: Judgment Day

28. Gangs of New York

29. The Departed

30. Airplane!

31. Ferris Bueller's Day Off

32. Groundhog Day

33. Beverly Hills Cop

34. The Hurt Locker

35. Braveheart

36. Deadpool (takes my top supers slot:)

37. The Dark Knight

38. The Ten Commandments

39. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

40. The Captain America Trilogy (it's a set for me, but if you have to pick 1, pick Winter Soldier)

44. Trading Places

45. Forrest Gump

46. The Green Mile

47. The Silence of the Lambs

50. It

51. Rain Man

52. The Truman Show

53. Psycho (1950)

54. Pulp Fiction

59. Jaws

60. Jurassic Park

61. Top Gun

62. Kubo and the Two Strings

63. American Sniper

64. The Terminator

65. The Wolf of Wall Street

66. District 9

67. 12 Angry Men (1957)

68. Singin' in the Rain

69. Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

70. Harry Potter series (same as LOTR - pick the last one if you have to pick):)

71. Pretty Woman (just saw this yesterday and I think I like it even more than I did before - made me a Julia fan and love the change of power to Julia as the love story progresses - no regrets putting it on the list:)

72. Miracle on 34th Street (1947)

73. Caddyshack

74. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

75. Stripes

76. Mission Impossible

78. The Last Starfighter (ahead of its time:)

79. Wonder Woman

80. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

81. Sleeping Beauty

82. Cinderella (1950)

83. Bambi

84. A League of their Own

85. The Fujitive

86. Star Trek (2009)

87. Seabiscuit

88. What's Eating Gilbert Grape?  (2 of my other favorite actors just being amazing...enough said:)

89. Pirates of the Caribbean

90. The Town

91. To Kill A Mockingbird

92. Up (just for the best opening 15 minutes in a movie - it could be top 10 if it dropped the dog)

93. Monsters, Inc

94. Finding Nemo

95. Aladdin

96. Pinocchio (1940)
97. Wreck-It Ralph

98. Inside Out

99. Starship Troopers
100. Spaceballs (yes, yes, I know there are better movies...but my brothers watched this so often, they (and I) can quote practically the whole movie...and it's still funny), so it needs a vote:)...

Pretty much after the top 4, all of these could be re-arranged entirely and probably 20-30 of them could be dropped if I see people post better movies...but you all said to just post my gut as I know it right now...so I did...

I was heavy on Disney, especially classic animated...b/c they are classics...everyone's seen them, everyone knows them, and everyone loves them...what better thing can be said than that parents pull out movies from the 1940s and keep reshowing their kids these films as a family:)...

How do we handle edits?

Do we PM the new list with a new PM or do we use the same PM from the first list?

You can edit the list and pm me the changes you make.

However I’m not planning on starting the scoring until the soft deadline passes.

Remember once the soft deadline hits I won’t consider your edits and will simply count whatever list I see from you when I get to scoring your list.  This is mostly to help me out so I can space out the work load and not do it all the day after the deadline.

IMO, always edit the original list...much easier for Panda to keep track of.

Am I really going to have to see these? They sound so boring.
