I think the estimated weekend drop for Red Sparrow is too severe. Friday it did the same number as American Made and that made 8.4M second weekend.

I didn’t expect the Friday bump is so weak, I think it’s under 100%..

That's actually decent-ish for Thoroughbreds. Could've done worse.

Just goes to show you can't tout a movie with the same movie campaign theme twice...lightning only strikes once...

Disney probably should have focused WAY less on the diversity message and more on a "relive the magic of the book" theme for this movie.  I mean, the book itself could have drawn from all sorts of demos - you have an award winning book read by kids for 50+ years (so you have a widely aged fanbase, just like Tolkien and Lewis and Rowling movies)...now, it's still not a done deal on where and how this ends up, but some of the ugliness that has come about b/c of the movie probably could have been avoided if the focus of the ad campaigning was on the movie to book relationship...now maybe not, b/c people are people, but they could have tried...

But, here's to a spring break rebound starting today.  I, for one, think Disney is at its best when it tries to make animated and live action premier material, and isn't just relying on its brand base...and I don't want them to use another excuse to say, "Well, we need Toy Story 4-6, b/c giving families a premier work isn't gonna work for our bottom line..."

Weird. It did very good during the weekdays

I think that's because it's skewing older, really.

I think they are still off on the Wrinkle number.  I am guessing it will come in closer to $10.3m for Friday

On the nose pretty much.

I can see sub-30 OW.

1.2 + 9 + 12 (+33%) + 8.3 (-31%) = 30.5

1.2 + 9 + 11 (+22%) + 7.3 (-34%) = 28.5

I'm fine with Wrinkle flopping (part cause I thought the movie was just BAD... I'll get more into that after work) but these bombs can show Disney that they can't just put out whatever and expect it to work wonders. They're top of the movie world because they mostly deliver on quality
