DEADPOOL 2 WEEKEND THREAD | Spoilers = BANNED INTO OBLIVION | Dp2 125M and 300 WW debut...Asgard Sun update pg 123

Recommended Posts

Should beat DP1 by at least 10 imo

18.6 + 41.4 + 48 (+16%) + 35 (-27%) = 143 ow (60 od)

143 ow would leave it 2.54x away from DP1's 363.

edit: is conservative. ready for 150

Following the previews-to-OW multiplier of Rough Night (which is a rough comparison, no pun intended, as that was rated-R and released in June, but whatever) gets it to a 7.14M OW. Don't @ me to say it's a terrible comparison, though, cause I couldn't think of anything else atm.

If Book Club follows Home Again:

6.5M (10.33x previews)

7.5M (+15%)

4.1M (-45%)

18.1M Weekend

5 PM previews will probably make the preview to OD multi lower, but it's still looking at a mid-teens opening

Deadpool 1 had a Preview to Opening Day Multiplier of 3.727 and a Opening Day to Opening Weekend multiplier of 2.797x.

If Deadpool 2 Follows that Trajectory that would be a Opening Weekend of $193.8M (Unlikely)

This will for sure be more front loaded, I'm guessing around a 58-60M Opening Day, 145-154M Weekend

Deadpool opened on Valentine's Day Weekend. It will NOT follow the same trajectory lol

But I would say $140M-$150M is possible especially when you compare it with other R-Rated openers that opened big like IT, Logan, Fifty Shades etc

Theater update:

  Reveal hidden contents

Deadpool 2: 431/1,669 (Up 89)

Book Club: 91/531 (Up 29)

Show Dogs: 31/461 (Up 11)

Life of the Party: 17/337 (Up 6)

Avengers: Infinity War: 15/769 (Up 3) (9 2D/6 3D)

Breaking In: 4/468 (Up 4)

Rampage: 3/134 (Up 3)

A Quiet Place and Overboard have sold nothing.

Deadpool comps:

42% of Infinity War (108.2M)

66% of Black Panther (133.3M)

107% of Thor: Ragnarok (131.3M)

140% of Justice League (131.3M)

400% of Kingsman 2 (156M)

Interesting that the Ragnarok and JL comps are the exact same

Book Club:

75% of Wonder (20.6M)

90% of The Post (17.5M)

90% of Orient Express (25.8M)

100% of Boo 2! (21.2M)

110% of The 15:17 to Paris (13.9M)

120% of 12 Strong (19M)

125% of Hostiles (12.6M)

The warning signs were there on this breaking out, but we ignored them. I don't even think @baumer was going this high on it :jeb!:

As for Show Dogs, there are no comps for it because family movies don't do this well while school is in session. The family drought is REAL

But you live in Grandma County, of course Book Club was gonna do well there.

Spoiler

:hahaha:

Think its opening to about 130 million for sure.

I think the issue is that Deadpool compared to Solo or IW has less of a hardcore fanbase and a large number of casuals...who will simply walk up and watch this movie the day or buy tickets the day of.

"With Thursday night crowds, Deadpool 2 scored a five-out-of-five stars with a 78% definite recommend."

Guessing they've ditched Cinemascore? Hope so, anyway

That's ComScore; Cinemascore won't be for another 12-14 hours lol

AOU od (84.4) = 3.05 * previews (27.6)

GOTG2 od (56.1) = 3.3 * previews (17.0)

DP2 needs 3.23 * 18.6 for 60 od.

Ah, Paramount picked up domestic (plus France and UK) rights for Book Club for $10M.  Even with marketing it seems likely they'll make a tidy profit there.
