you guys realize awit would have done a respectable 120-130m if racism didn't exist right? it was sabotaged before it even came out, you can see that from the disproportionate dislikes on all its youtube videos

Really?! You're really gonna play the race card with this shit?!!! My ppl have enough racist bullshit to deal with without you adding a crappy movie to the list! You can keep that trash!

That seems a little bad for Jurassic World overseas? Not in a vacuum of course, but relatively? I don't know overseas numbers like that but am I tripping?

I don't think Incredibles 2 2nd weekend > JW OW is a real possibility....but if someone made a club for it I'd give it a hard couple looks before I said no, for sure.

Either Disney is lowballing I2 - which wouldn't shock me as they tend to be conservative with their estimates or they are straight out giving money to AWIT.

The way they worked that to 100M makes me think they had some sort of deal with Oprah and Duvernay to get to that mark as they almost certainly lost money overall pushing it to 100M.

After watching this the last couple of years maybe FK can be the exception but i expect I2 to have more effect on FK then the reverse. If a film overperforms and opens really big it is usually the films the next couple of weeks that suffer, not the reverse.

Both FD and TS3 dropped 46% 2nd weekend, but CBM tend to drop 55%+ =2nd weekend. I think I2 splits the difference and has a drop of about 50%.

If you look at O/S markets for FK it was generally 25-35% off of JW. That would translate to roughly a 135-155 range. I think I2 will hurt it a little on the lower end of the 4 quadrants and keep it close to that 135M mark. 135-140 is my current thought there and probably about 90M for I2.

Hmmm.

interesting drops and random increases for Disney films this weekend.

What a surprise 🙄

Wrinkle in Time should be one of the top stories of the weekend. I think the trades might coincidentally ignore it.

:hahaha:

It's also going to be amazing to have 3 $600m dom grossers in one year...when we've never even had 2 before!

And next year has the potential for possibly 4

What movies? A4 and TLK, what other movies do you expect?

i'm not saying it's a good movie, i haven't seen it and didn't want to because it looked bad. i'm saying it would have made more money if people weren't racist because we know for a fact that plenty didn't see it JUST because the main character was black.

Are we just choosing to ignore that the most predominantly African-American led blockbuster ever is the highest grossing domestic film of the year and will likely stay that way?

black panther also would have made more money if there weren't racist people out there. is this really controversial lmao?

On the other side you could argue Panther probably would’ve made less if there wasn’t such a huge historically underserved fanbase/community for this genre.

Ep9 I still think hits $600m...and outside shot of Frozen 2 (and very long shot potential of TS4).

61.7 OS-China + 111.9 China = 173.6 OS weekend for JW2.

OS-China OW was 150.9 for JW2 (5-day in many markets).

So 61.7 2nd weekend is actually a good hold of -59%, especially since the world cup kicked in.
