Alita: Battle Angel 2nd Friday $3.3mn Approx. Weekend $11.5mn perhaps.

Feel good about 12 for ALITA.

3.3

5.3 (+61%) // +55.5% last weekend

3.3 (-38%)

= 12.0 (-58%)

LEGO 2 $2.45mn 3rd Friday. Weekend $11.25mn Approx.

Nice. 11.25 would be -46%. Good session post-Holiday (Lego2's Sun hold was more inflated and stronger than all top 12 films last week) and going against an over-performing HTTYD3. Adding 2-2.5x the weekend more will give it 107-113. Lego2, at least go over Angry Birds (107.5).

Alita looks like $2.5mn using the most leniant comp I have. Again like LEGO 2 it's just way too low.

That's simply unbelievable but what to do? That's what numbers are showing.

Could be some problem with numbers and may be that's why Deadline didn't shared the Friday for these 2. Most likely it will be sorted by evening (I mean your morning).

I guess Universal just has the Midas touch when it comes to animation, because that's the only explanation for Dragon 3 making 60M. This was coming off two movies that opened in the mid-40s previously, the last one underperformed and came out five years after the last movie, and while the TV spots and ads were solid, it didn't seem like the GA had much buzz and interest in the movie or the franchise itself. This is honestly kind of mind-blowing.

There could be a higher OW for Dragon 3 than what Deadline is saying. They had Alita at $24M OW, but ended up with $28M. The bigger the numbers are, the merrier.

Dragon 3 is officially the first "surprise!" big opening of 2019. Amazing start, especially after the second was considered an underperformer. Can't wait to see the movie tonight!

Alita looks headed for about $80-85M total. Better than what was expected before opening, but still goes to show that manga/anime still has a long ways to go in becoming a major multiplex attraction. Lego 2 got hit hard in the wake of Dragon, unfortunately and unsurprisingly.

Fighting with My Family did about as expected.

Dragon 3 making more than every Dreamworks movie since Madagascar 3 including the hot garbage that is Boss Baby pleases me.

Same. And maybe the first film to hit $200M DOM For DWA since Madagascar 3. DWA has a bright future with DWA.

Spoiler

Though to be honest Boss Baby wasn’t that bad.

I might get seriously laughed at by stating this honest to god-truth but....i really enjoyed The Boss Baby. It unfairly gets flack for it’s flaws (which i can understand why some don’t like that film) but it’s a cute & fun movie with likeable main leads. I wasn’t surprised that film was a big box office success....and i’m not surprised this film will be another big success for DWA.

I agree. There was a charm in it's ridiculousness.

Boss Baby had too good of opening scene of babies. The rest of film was meh.

I found TV series on Netflix bit better tho however left 2nd season in 1st episode itself.

Did well in India as well, was 11th highest grossing animation film after a negligible opening. Sequel will do better.

Thats one hefty insult. I didnt watch Boss Baby, is it really that bad?

I don’t really think so. Since there aren’t really anything offensive or assaulting about The Boss Baby. It’s actually a cute & charming DWA-film about brotherhood.

And let’s all agree that Baby is undoubtedly better & more enjoyable than Emoji Movie
