That's always been the case for Universal movies.

How the HTTYD franchise reduce prod budget with each movie?

Quote

At a reported $129 million, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World carries the lightest budget of the three films in the animated franchise,

HTTYD1 was 165 and the 2nd was 145.

KFP1 was 130, KFP2 was 150, KFP3 was 145.

Guessing tech got cheaper and they went with profit deals with actors.

Universal generally only gives an estimate ending in 0 or 5 - hence what you see for Green Book.

A general reminder that all numbers given are exact - only to a point, not off enough to cause issue as each studio keeps the rest in check (as noted in the past when others studios cried foul over Paramount and the Transformer films reporting especially.)

Some betterish numbers over the ones last night.

Happy Dragon went up - hopefully we can get the kiddos out to see it in the next week or so.

I guess, I don't understand why 55-60% wasn't considered the minimum of a drop for Alita, especially after the Wed/Thursday dailies came in.

The type of film it was + holiday opening meaning inflated Sunday + fanboy rush + age demographic that we already had data on = never going to hold 50% or better. 🤔 For the box-office's sake, it's always better for films to over perform (which it is already doing) but even comparing to the best comps didn't show it having a good hold this weekend. Its going to end right where it should - in ok for the genre territory but nothing spectacular.

Lego 2 is just a shame, not gonna recover from the bad opening and at this point will be looking at a 110-120~ finale. I had hoped it would leg out to 130-140 but not happening if this weekend is any indication.

I remember when MGM distributed the Brosnan Bond movies, the weekend actuals ended in 007. Maybe they will continue that trend with Bond 25 onwards.

is it though?

Its a film to which no one wanted or asked for a sequel. and the sequel was so crap I walked out of the cinema half way through.

Well clearly I think it is a shame, hence why I posted it. 🙄

Or did you just feel like pretending your individual opinion on the film is fact?

Plus why did you pay to go and see a film that you didn’t want or ask for? 🤔 I smell bullshit.
