Holy shit, the Dragon opening is the first true positive surprise I've had at box office in a long while. Happy for it to go with a bang. Universal was smart to hinge the marketing on two things: Toothless (always the kid appeal in the franchise) and finale factor (to bring in nostalgic adults). If it does 60M, that's a hella of bounceback from 2 and well-deserved for a great franchise.

yeah. 5 year gap for a sequel is bad, but 9 year gap from the original can just about be enough.

Pardon me. I can't tell what figure studio will give as final estimate. All I can do is take reported number and guess the unreported which shouldn't be much now but last weekend it was more than what I thought so added $100k more to be safe.

 

 

+/- 1-2% on final number is acceptable.
