I liked 2018, HATED Kills and was absolutely dreading this, esp after knowing the plot from test screenings months ago.

Finally saw it...fav of the trilogy! I kinda loved it? It's messy but so entertaining. This is a terrible trilogy and none of it meshes well at all but taken on its own as a sorta epilogue, it works. It'll age well into a cult fav of the series alongside H3 and RZH2 for being the outliers in a fairly formulaic series.

1. Halloween (1978)

2. Halloween III

3. Halloween II (2009)

4. Halloween II (1981)

5. Halloween Ends

6. Halloween 4

7. Halloween (2018)

8. Halloween (2007)

9. Halloween 6 (Producers Cut)

10. H20

11. Halloween 5

12. Halloween Kills

13. Halloween Resurrection

Tbh I like pretty much all of these except the last 3

Must agree. Was partially spoiled to be fair, but felt this was a weird but good way to wrap up the arc initiated in 2018.

Kills was a mess but honestly didn't mind the dark acolyte angle here. Anyone who craps on the latest trilogy needs to rewatch Halloween 4 and 5. I enjoy them, but the new flicks are Shakespearean in comparison.

Looking at this as a trilogy, I enjoyed it. The original (1978) is a work of art,. This was a pretty good complement to it. I don't feel it crapped on any of the original characters and reached about as satisfying a conclusion as possible in a franchise like this.

How would the next Halloween film work? They obviously can’t have it be part of this particular timeline, unless they plan on having someone other than Michael Myers be the killer. Are they going to do another sequel to the original that ignores all the other films, or a complete reboot?

Hard to see audiences being as excited for yet another reboot that ignores all the sequels and picks up from the original. Also don't think Jamie Lee Curtis would return. And audiences also don't seem receptive to remakes these days. It will be tricky to continue the Halloween franchise in the near future. But even the lowest opening of the trilogy ($40m) is still massive for a horror film, hard to see the industry not wanting to continue milking the franchise.

It’ll be a reboot, because Universal/Blumhouse don’t have the rights anymore, it was for 3 films only.

It’ll be interesting to see if Uni/Blumhouse renew the rights though, even though it’s on a downward trajectory in terms of box office, the DGG trilogy have still been very profitable for them, and Michael Myers is actually part of the new Blumhouse opening titles logo.

Myers being part of the titles is something I noticed as well. The epic 2nd week drop (is 70 million all said now in doubt?) may put them off renewing though.

Jamie Lee Curtis coming back certainly gave this new trilogy some legitimacy and brought back an audience. That ship has sailed.

Feels like reboot of some sort is the only option. Making Myers a patently supernatural force might be the way forward to differentiate from this trilogy.
