Guys stop fighting. An original movie is doing well. That should be celebrated like a public holiday as its as rare of an event.

again i dont have problem with that , i dont even know why i should explain my comment in the first place, i am not talking about celebration what i just said was that people will agree with things when it suits them thats all

Would agree. Does anyone who is a big Oscar follower knows what it will contend in? BP seems unlikely though obviously very likely for a nom.

As far as nominations go:

Best Picture

Best Director

Best Original Screenplay

Best Actor (Leonardo DiCaprio)

Best Actor (Brad Pitt) (if not pushed supporting)

Best Supporting Actress (Margot Robbie)

Best Production Design

Best Costume Design

Best Editing

Best Cinematography

Best Sound Mixing/Editing

I agree let's stop saying idiotic things like Cinema is saved. Reminds me of the tennis forum folks where people beg for Federer/Novak/Nadal to lose to save tennis. I mean seriously it's ridiculous.

This movie is doing great let's just focus on that.

All the director's he's worked with are over 25 though

They are also directors well known for producing movies that make over 100m that don’t need big name stars.

Because cinema was never dead. Other studios need to stop making awful movies and up their game.

Overall quality of movies from all the big studios this year were similar (outside of a few exceptions like Toy Story 4 which had much better reception than any other blockbuster this yeae). It's just that Disney has their biggest IP films releasing this year.

Funnily enough Disney released both the biggest flop of the year (through Fox) and the most profitable movie of the year.

I am really amazed by The Upside more than anything this year. How do you make 108m with just 20m opening in this age? Even for a movie that didn’t receive good reviews.
