It does if the movies you do with them are quality movies. Leo is great actor and he can be attributed some of the draw for the GA, but the movies don’t die or live by him alone. 

 

Will smith for a decade had movies doing good just because of him with no other influence.

I wouldn't call Interstellar less GA friendly. Inception was much more of a mind bender and WTF is going on than Interstellar. It was also a better movie. I do agree about Dunkirk as it wasn't a movie with a clear human protagonist which is tougher sell to GA and yet here we are. Nolan power.

OUATIH is an original script. Having real life events and characters doesn't negate it being an original film.

Inception is really when Nolan was confirmed as an A-list director in every sense of the word and Leo deserves a lot of credit for, as you say, lending credibility to the GA.

Eh, I think it's easier to sell the image of something like fighting in zero gravity and bending cities than the power of love through bookshelves.

Original movie means its not based on some sort of preexisting source material i. e. other films, books, videogames etc. Real life events are something different though. Otherwise you would have to say that Dunkirk or Apocalypse Now arent original movies, but i think everyone would agree that they are.
