maxalcamo
Thanks. This means around 19 million pounds this week, really not bad. 60-70 M dollars are approachable right? Edited December 30, 2018 by maxalcamo

Aquaman up to $18.2m, should be able to pass $25m with ease and maybe still has a shot at $30m. A lot of schools are off for another week so it should make another £10 at least over the next 7 days which would put it somewhere around £33-35m by next Sunday. I’d say £45m is a good target right now, perhaps £50m if legs are good after holidays end.
Jonwo
Bumblebee did £4.96m which sounds good but that's nine days worth of takings.

SchumacherFTW
Looks like Bohemian Rhapsody is re-expanding a bit this weekend. All the cineworlds near me got rid of it on Christmas Eve, all barring a 5 screen are getting it back on Friday.

It looks like it's getting one IMAX 2D show per day back, starting tomorrow (schedule not out beyond Thu, so n oidea if it will be more) I don't want to subject myself to 4DX - I did THE MEG that way, and even when I turned off the water, I still got sprayed from the seats in front of me! That's how bloody strong it was. And this is supposed to be even MORE WET! Thanks, but no thanks. I wouldn't mind that much, except for the fact that the 3D glasses would constantly get wet and why the fuck would I want to NOT see what's happening? It fell just 10% to gross £23.3m to date. Paramount’s Transformers prequel Bumblebee rode the waves of good reviews to take £5.4m from 587 sites and snag second place on its opening weekend. It is directed by animation specialist Travis Knight, who has been twice nominated for an Oscar - for The Boxtrolls in 2015 and then for Kubo And The Two Strings in 2017. Bumblebee is his live-action debut and stars Hailee Steinfeld as a young girl in 1980s California who discovers and befriends the bashed up and abandoned machine Bumblebee. In third place is Warner Bros’ Aquaman which garnered £2.4m from 559 sites on its third weekend on release, a bump of 2%. The other big opener was Sony’s comedy Holmes & Watson which grossed £1.4m from 481 sites. It is the second film by Etan Cohen, who previously directed Get Hard in 2015, and stars Will Ferrell, Ralph Fiennes, John C Reilly and Rebecca Hall. Finally at number five, Disney’s Ralph Breaks The Internet made £1.2m for a £13.2m total after five weeks.
Jonwo
£1.4m for Holmes and Watson is poor considering that's a five day opening. I imagine Aquaman and Bumblebee were neck and neck for the weekend when you strip out Bumblebee's previews.

reddevil19
Sorry if this is discussed somewhere in here. I've skipped a lot of discussions over the years since I last posted. How does the Unlimited - and now Odeon's Limitless - card factor into the box office? I mean, I've been to the cinema 12 times in the last 30 days. I spent a grand total of about 14 quid. Twice for the IMAX uplift and twice for 3D glasses as I seem intent on just collecting hundreds and never reusing a single pair... I mean, that's 12 quid (plus the 18 membership) instead of 150+. And my boyfriend accompanied me on about 8 of those trips, so again, £12 instead of £100+. I mean, I can see how the cinemas like it, as, even with the discounts and the fact that for half those viewings all I had was coffee, I still spent probably £50+ on concessions (I admit to sneaking in M&Ms, but I buy everything else fair and square :P). But what's the agreement with distributors? And how do the viewers factor into attendence as opposed to box office? I'm very curious... Your Unlimited/Limitless ticket counts as a full priced adult ticket in terms of box office takings. Cineworld/Odeon essentially covers the cost of the difference. They hope that that their membership customers will spend money at concessions on the overpriced food and drink, and for the most part, that’s exactly what people do. Cinemas make more money from the food and drink than they do from the films they exhibit. 2
