That's not too shabby, just below Parasite's 380 last weekend from 3 theaters.

I obviously haven't seen either yet, because I don't live in NY/LA, but I'm curious if people think that there's a chance that Jojo Rabbit will expand better in a few weeks if it appeals a bit more to the masses.

Though I see that The Lighthouse is going to open here next weekend, so at least that's something.

Jojo Rabbit won TIFF people's choice award so it'll have more wide audience appeal than The Lighthouse.

TDKR's record DC OS of 636.8 (with about 53 from China) is gonna be broken by Joker without China.

EDIT: TDKR's record DC OS-China of 584 is gonna be broken by Joker by 50+.

A 350 internationally and a drag to 110mn in NA will see it cover production cost. Can make good money on video, all this for not ending up bomb, which was very hard to believe.

Yep

Happy for Joker but that's depressing. TDKR was incredible, it deserves so much more.

deadline was estimating 1.38M.. :whosad:

seems like it's following The Farewell which is still really solid for a non-english speaking film but I was expecting more. 15M-20M+ should still happen ig

Yeah, over 800, but only 520-ish without China, so TDKR and soon Joker will be above that OS-C result.

Also surely at the end of it's run Joker will be #1 solo superhero movie of all time in Europe surpassing IM3 and TDKR.

It doesnt have any majors left unless there was a misreported opening on Friday. Will be curious to see how far over 400m it goes

For the rest of this month, nope.

There is going to be Terminator Dark Fate out in November, but who knows how much that will do overseas.

He's saying Maleficent 2 has no major markets left to open in, according to reports. In which case, yeah, it's a better opening that some feared, but still not too great, as it does put its OS target somewhere round 300.

Sorta funny that The Lego Movie, Godzilla, and Maleficent were all among the biggest movies of 2014 and have spawned sequels five years later that will all finish in the same range ($100-110M) but at half or less of what their predecessors made. Guess if we want to extend that to sequels to 2014 movies we can also include Dark Phoenix making only a fraction of what Days of Future Past did.

5 years way too long between movies

With Halloween still 10 days away, Addams Family is going to hit 100, right?

I doubt it. 90 would be good, but it would be nice to see another non-Disney film do it.

Next objectives for DC:

  • Decent reception for BoP, regardless of box office (similar to Shazam)
  • WW84 increase internationally, to challenge the billion
  • Black Panther numbers for The Batman

Batman ain’t doing BP numbers I can guarantee. Joker #s IMO
