This is why they should've done a normal Captain Marvel 2 and not this weird team up with two characters nobody cares about that's like only 90 minutes long 😤

It's not so much  nobody cares about the two charecters, , but thinking that everybody knew them from the YV shows and no introduction was needed in the movie was a big mistake.

TV/Movie Synergy..often talked about, tried a few times, but tying together a movie with a current TV show has never really worked well.

They made people love a god (Thor), you'd think they'd understand how to make Carol interesting and relatable. I can't comment on the sequel yet but they seemed terrified of giving her true vulnerabilities in the original film, beyond she has to learn how to not hold back. Very weird mistake from Marvel who, if nothing else, are usually really great at making you like their superhero leads.

Debatable if Thor is really a god, or just a powerful alien being who pimitive people though was a God, but point well taken.

One impact the film's Failure will have it that it had two huge setups for the future of the MCU,

Spoiler

The Mid final title sequence that sets up the X Men could not be a bigger set up

and now they will have to scramble for a new setup since many have not seen these two setups.

But not widly, and only a limited number.

No,lots of America film doing great number in USSR,like “The Magnificent  Seven” attract 67 millions admission in Soviet market, top 10 biggest admission in Soviet cinema of all time,Makenna’s Gold attracted 63 millions admits,KingKong(1988) is one of biggest box office bomb in USA but attracted 53.6 millions admission in Soviet.

If you consider VHS and DVD,James Bond is the household name in Soviet, and when Goldeneye(1995) first shown in Russia it took highest grossing film of that year.

As expected, the new reviews coming in since we got the OW #s yesterday are mostly negative now. This is definitely a real thing these days with blockbusters (critical opinion being swayed by audience/box office reception after OW). I’d expect rotten soon.

RT needs to stop accepting reviews after OW, close off all reviews after the first Sun. Would weed out all the bandwagon jumpers.

They already have had X Men characters show up. I really don’t think this credits sequence is that big of a deal. The MCU hype machine wants to make it one, but I think it’s pretty uneventful.

The greatest trick that Kevin Feige ever pulled was making people think the post-credit scenes of MCU movies mattered.

'No they don't have to do that. Most audiences didn't see Thor and Captain America til after Avengers had already come out.

I disagree. Not everyone gets to see a film at the exact same time. Also, the film still has a 62% score. I don't see what the problem is?

IMO the biggest issue for Marvel right now is that it isn't making good movies.

The cinemascores suggest that.

My 20-yr old son's reaction to Marvel movies is all I need to see.

Pre-COVID he was a have a see every Marvel movie opening night. Since COVID he has not seen any Marvel movie opening night and the only movies he seemed excited to see in a theater were NWH and AtSV (which are not even really MCU movies).

He decided relatively early on based on the trailers that he could wait on MoM, LT, AM:Q and Marvels to come to D+ before watching them.

And it is not because he hasn't seen the D+ shows, he has seen every one.

He just hasn't found that the movies for the most part looked good enough that he should see them in a theater.

Instead of seeing movies in a theater he and his friends now have a standing game night on Friday nights.

The ceiling for all films (including Marvel movies) are lower post-COVID and the studios need to come to terms with that.

They need to make fewer movies, that are perceived by the GA as entertaining and a good way to spend their money than they are now. They also have to figure out cost control as they simply cannot continue to spend the amount of money they are currently as most CBM's this year are going to be losses for the stufios.

The way the press is covering this you'd think it's the most hated movie ever made.

Not really, it would need to be highly successful to be actually hated, people just aren’t bothered at all by it, except ironically, the incels.

But the press coverage itself seems more in line in treating it like one of the biggest bombs of all time, which it is.

It doesn’t really excuse weirdos from being hateful toward woman and POC, but that’s another story and YouTube videos aren’t press.

Yes but in the same articles they also spend half the time talking about how Killers of the Flower Moon, which cost only a little less but made significantly less money, is actually a box office success. It's pretty clearly just slanted.
