I'm really excited to see the UK numbers for this. It's insane to see TDK with $90 million in 2008 and TDKR with the same number in 2012. Batman is the king there.

And the fact that Lego Batman grossed $35 million, while movies like Wonder Woman and Aquaman did less than $30 million is wild.

That sucks! Hopefully UK starts to realize there’s far more to DC than Batman and his mythology!

WB don't always market their movies at the budgets of Disney and Sony overseas. Usually the films they put the most money behind are IPs that they know are popular in certain regions (eg. Batman and Wizarding World in UK)

Films like Wonder woman and Aquaman were both heavily marketed in the UK, people just weren't as interested after BvS and Justice League.

Man of Steel didnt do too bad here, would have grossed more if it had decent WOM. Suicide squad did well too. Problem is DC gave us some bad eggs so people didnt trust the likes of their later offerings.

Also Lego batman > Most DC movies

THE BATMAN closes in on SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME

Quote

On the awareness side, the story remains the same. BATMAN is on the verge of cracking 70%. If it does, and there’s no reason to think it won’t, it would be just the 2nd film to do so. With another month to do, it’s not impossible to imagine BATMAN topping SPIDER-MAN for the highest awareness score ever recorded by The Quorum.

Awareness is clearly not a problem for BATMAN. But what about interest? Three weeks later, it turns out that the interest score for BATMAN still hasn’t moved. Whereas interest for SPIDER-MAN steadily climbed as it approached release, interest for BATMAN has been stuck between 6.4 and 6.6 for the past month.

It’s important to note that BATMAN is still more than 30 days from release, meaning the home stretch campaign is only just beginning. So, as we enter the final month before release, we will closely watch those interest numbers to see if it approaches the 7.2 score for SPIDER-MAN. Stay tuned, and rest assured we will be updated this one again before it opens.

Spectacular, if true. That three hour runtime gives me pause tho.

I hope the movie is enjoyable, not too dark. It would be a shame if the movie is too gloomy, it would make the watching experience unpleasant.

The Batman is locked to open over 200m. The 3 hour run time wont effect it at all, especially when Endgame smashed the record with its hefty length.

Batman has claimed the opening weekend record 4 times in the past, they always open big

Its not locked to open over 200m,i'd say less than 0.1% chance it gets to 200m, maybe the sequel will open to that if this one does what its supposed to

I'm wondering about the re watchability factor. The dark tone of The Batman may stop some people from attending multiple times. Also, the family factor...do you see families clamoring about a dark batman?

Locked to open over $100M, yes. Over $200M? Not at all.
