filmlover
The average person is gonna see the Oscar nomination headlines tomorrow and ask: "there were movies this past year?" Hopefully the producers have accepted that the ratings will be in the dumps after seeing how badly the Globes did.

filmlover
Congrats to Glenn for getting both Oscar and Razzie nominations for the same role. Paul Raci! Lakeith Stanfield! Holy shit. Edited March 15, 2021 by filmlover
titanic2187
Some genuine surprise in Best Supporting actor. And now thanks to gleen close, we are sure there is no overlapping in members from both bodies
lorddemaxus
That Lakeith nomination took me by surprise. Thought he was lead and if any film was gonna get a double Supp acting nomination, it would be Trial.
Eric Quinn
So is this the first time an actor was nominated for an Oscar and a Razzie for the same performance? I know Sandra Bullock was the same year, but those were two different performances

James Coco in Only When I Laugh and Amy Irving in Yentl were the first two.

titanic2187
I don't remember Oscar have this many first -time nominees in a single year, this is a record-breaking year
Hatebox
I have no strong opinion of these noms. Nothing seems especially egregious, but it's just harder than ever to care about awards this year.
Borobudur
I didn't see follow Oscar but my impression told me last year Parasite win was one of most eventful Oscar in recent years
WrathOfHan
Pretty good nominees all around. The Ma Rainey/Miami snubs don't totally surprise me after poor BAFTA showings.
filmlover
I was concerned it would underperform but Mank ended up being the most nominated movie with 10 noms. Great showing. Netflix is clearly the winner this year thanks to hardly anyone else putting out movies in the past year. WB (Judas and the two tech noms for Tenet) and Disney (Soul, Onward, Mulan, The One & Only Ivan) are the only major studios with a real presence of some kind.
Valonqar
Didn't follow Oscar race this season but saw headlines about Glenn's historical nomination. Couldn't have happened to a better guy after BS that TWD pulled on him. We are not worthy.

Mank got a lot of nominations but missed screenplay and editing. Lots of noms, but no presence at all today. I expect it to come out with nothing but Production Design win. Will be very funny when even in a year where all we had were Netflix movies that they end up winning just 2 awards (Production Design for Mank and Actor for Bozeman). Darth Lehnsherr
No real surprises stoked to see Minari go well and so happy for Steven Yuen. Soul as well was worried it was only gonna get the token Best Animated Feature which it will win. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross with the double nom can't remember the last time it happened for Original Score.
