Captain America: Brave New World | February 14, 2025 | Harrison Ford is General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross

Recommended Posts

Pre production on this movie was planned when 200-250M was a respectable budget for MCU. I don’t think reshoots are always a terrible thing but Disney are getting a bad trend of expensive reshoots for expensive films.

In the short term k think they need to start cutting their losses and focus future production on lower initial budgets.

You got to remember with rebates, these tentpoles are actually a lot more expensive.

If The Marvels was 250m without reshoots, I can easily seeing it pushing 300m if it came to it due to Red Hulk being a motion capture character.

Incant possibly see how Cap 4 is more expensive just because of Red Hulk. Nearly all of The Marvels is set in space.

Who knew the guy who made the bad third Cloverfield fumbled the ball?

Honestly think they’ll retool it to a pseudo Avengers flick. They’ll bring in Bruce, Jen and maybe Shang-Chi as those who help Sam fight The Leader and Red Hulk. Guessing Feige’s gambit is that Levy and Reynolds deliver the NWH nostalgia piece that Deadpool will be is enough to get the nerds to start creaming over them again and in conjunction with a strong Comic-Con presence, will hopefully carry out the goodwill into 2025. That said, think they shouldn’t be doing 4 films that year especially with content glut.

How on earth do so many people here think write-offs are a thing that is a good thing and not a horrible, horrible trend that makes the studio that does it look bad? And it's only on this board specifically that seems to be like this.

Hollywood needs to learn from the video game industry, projects get cancelled all the time there even for games which are near complete. It's better to not release shit than to damage future products by releasing shit. Bah bah bah think of the people who worked on the movies, well perhaps they shouldn't have made a bad movie if they didn't want it to be shitcanned.

👏I👏FUCKING👏 CALLED 👏 IT

Almost half a year of reshoots sounds pretty brutal, and almost Josstice-tier. But hey, if it actually fixes the movie, then so be it. This is the good thing about The Marvels bombing. It will be the wakeup call Marvel needs to get back on track. Focusing solely on Deadpool 3 for next year and otherwise laying low until this movie in 2025 is the smartest decision they've made in a while. Hoping for the best!

This is nuts - what the heck has Marvel been doing to have another expensive film that they now need to remake in large parts?

Budget is gonna be an issue.

Time away from the character is gonna be an issue.

And now quality will be whispered as an issue, especially since they mentioned the reason for the reshoots.

Someone in the Marvel chain needs to go.  Someone is letting half-baked ideas out with enormous budgets and bad scripts/stories and just not delivering...

"movies should be more like the games industry"? Do you know what the fucking games industry is like? It's fucking terrible!

And again, ACME got great test screenings. It was not canned because people thought the movie was bad.

People on here have somehow gotten "they are reshooting three sequences" to somehow mean "they are starting from page one on the entire movie". No, they are not suddenly making it an Avengers movie. You can't say the movie needs to keep the budget down and insist they add Spider-Man

It’s eye rolling, people act like the actors are toys on a rack. And that audiences just turn up for them no matter what which is not the case.

I’m not saying they need to keep the budget down, I’m just more or less predicting what will happen. They’re cutting three sequences and reportedly major reshoots for multiple scenes from January to May. Just guessing they may try a few cameos.

Think the problem of production dilemmas could’ve easily been avoidable if they stopped production for this during the writers strike.

People had been saying since the strike began it'd need reshoots and be delayed. So then the news comes out it's delayed and is getting reshoots and people are outraged apparently

Video games are a very different product and they release bad video games all the time. Like ALL the time. Just look at Gollum or most Square Enix products. Nobody sets out to make a shitty movie.

But hey we do have some users here who do set out to shit post. And that's how we get shit takes like "hollywood needs to learn from a completely different industry".

Me thinks some people have no idea how Hollywood works.

Cancelling finished games is just as expensive as cancelling finished movies and TV shows if not more so. I don't get why people keep suggesting it's a good thing to cancel completed projects of any form.

People just overestimate the manage ability of Kevin Feige. He was a producer and should never every suppose to be the man in the chair. Since Civil War, Marvel Studios under his regime really enjoy the sick production model.

Sure, people overestimate the man who delivered close to a billion per movie produced on average. Totally.

(with that said, he really should delegate the TV side of things to someone else so he can focus on the movies)

This and thunderbolts should never have been green lit in the first place. Stupid decisions at Marvel is the reason for their downfall.

I wouldn't call them stupid - they were riding the gravy train with any material they could throw at a wall for as long as they could.

That worked, mostly, for Phase 4...but eventually, it catches up to you...
