Why? Warner clearly dumped this movie.

They literally didn't do anything to promote it, just the very basic. I doubt anyone will see this shit result to a movie that nobody cares (including the Studio) and make assumptions about movies that people actually Care.

Well, for movie goers, they did have the Reminiscence trailer on every movie I watched outside of kid films this summer (Space Jam 2, Snake Eyes, and The Suicide Squad)...so they didn't bury it, especially to the crowds going to movies right now.  Those crowds had no interest...

Really happy for Free Guy. That and JC had strong holds.

Good start for PP.

Hopefully FG will encourage a future system with a 30-45 exclusive window and then to streaming, but we will see, JC argues you can do a PA and still have good legs if your film is well received.

My impression before the year even started was WB's slate for 2021 wasn't very strong and it certainly hasn't been. That may be part of the reason they are willing to just let them all go day and date to HBOMax.

TSS has done well in a couple of places - like UK and Australia, but there are also places where it really has not done very well. Even without day and date i'm not sure it could have done much more than 200M.

The movie is very bad too, this doesn't help.

Other than the cast it literally doesn't have anything interesting... The concept is cool but they never really use it, the plot itself is obvious and reminiscent of other movies that made the same thing better, and the action is horrible.

I was going to say, saying WB didnt promote it is factually untrue. I've seen that trailer before every movie for months now.

Trailers showing at theaters is most basic marketing piece possible, they did that, can you show much more promotion than this? They clearly didn't care about it, possible because they know the movie not only had 0 hype but it's also terrible.

Reminiscence was marketed a lot. Far beyond the basic, I saw so much promotion for it.

It didn’t flop because of delta or whatever, it’s at like 10% of Free Guy’s 2nd weekend. It flopped because it’s a free streaming movie that didn’t look appealing (so it also flopped on that streaming service).

I have no interest in “cultural impact” or “phenomenon” or whatever for recent movies, but I do think only 1/5 Pixar originals since Inside Out has been truly spectacular, Soul, and not really in a kid friendly way. Then again only 1/5 originals *before* Inside Out was truly spectacular for me, so…

Perhaps the lesson is that their 99-2004 run is not exactly reproducible.

That they promote it in a basic way, i mean, it's just read.

Anyway, pointless discussion.

Lol @ Demonic being below Flag Day despite having more than 3x the theaters. You can't do limited releases right now.

I was really hoping for a blomkamp come back. Particularly because I thought all those Oats studios short film were pretty good.

Sucks to see him keep spiraling.

Reminiscence's 2.5 minute trailer was confusing and the 30 second TV spots were borderline incomprehensible. Just seemed like a tough sell from the beginning. Add bad reviews and a target audience that's still mostly avoiding multiplexes to the mix and you have the perfect recipe for a pitiful flop even in normal times.

It's not that bad. There's one action scene, and it's a well-done fight scene in a sinking warehouse.
