The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread (December 2021 - July 2023)

Is Box Office Pro no longer doing long range tracking? They'd usually have something out about The Batman by now in pre-COVID times.

Recently it’s been more like 3 weeks out or 4 for especially huge movies, so Batman on the 4th or the 11th should be. We might get something tomorrow about Nile/Marry Me, or next week for Uncharted, but for the most part there hasn’t been much worth doing long range for.

It's going to be pretty dull for the most part until Batman comes out tbh. Although I suppose Uncharted and Jackass should be fine they're going to be largely aimed at the 18-34 male demo that has been the only demo throughout the COVID era to turn out in the numbers they used to for anything that wasn't either a comic book tentpole or a horror movie.

The movie is already online, it dropped in the last couple of days.

It's shame it's a dud critically and B.O. wise as well as being in limbo for 7 freaking years.  The Moon & The Sun won the Nebula in 1998 over Game Of Thrones -  it's a lovely novel.

I'm always wondering why there are so many great books that aren't adapted but then this happens or even worse the brilliant Winter’s Tale is butchered - so maybe it's for the best if they're left alone.

Speaking of Uncharted, showtimes are starting to trickle in, but not available for purchase.

4pm previews.

(don't think this has been mentioned yet, and a quick scan/search of this thread didn't turn up anything)

Just saw that Redeeming Love is directed by the same D.J. Caruso who made his name in Hollywood thrillers during the 2000s and continued through the late 2010s (the XXX sequel from 5 years ago was his last movie before this). All in favor of directors stepping outside their comfort zones and testing other genres but talk about random lol.

A good question is if you would rather have your book butchered as one movie, or drag it out to 8 seasons where nothing makes sense by the end.

I’d prefer either to WoT’s fate ☠️

I wonder what time previews will be for Batman? 6, right? They can't rollout a 3hr movie at 7 in middle of March

I might be wrong but I feel BVS was 5

lol.

4pm if you're lucky.  2pm if you're very unlucky.

======

WB has never really been that shy when it comes to pushing the envelope, IMO.  They, along with Sony, have been doing 4pm previews for some of their films as far back as at least 2018 for major releases.  2021 was a pretty mixed bag since they had so few releases that even had previews, but Joker came out in Oct 2019 and that was a 4pm'er (as was Shazam!), so...

Well, I mean, just cross your fingers that it isn't 3pm (or earlier), is all I am sayin'.
