should sonic 1 even be used a comp? I can imagine covid fears already slightly hurting the numbers at that point

Nope. However go down to $90-$100M level to get below $5M first Wed (which is somewhat unfair because summer & holiday weekdays are inflated)

Godzilla = $4.96M ($93.2M OW)

F8te of Furious = $4.89M ($98.8M OW)

IT Chapter 2 = $4.52M ($91.8M OW)

Venom 2 = $4.13M ($90.0M OW)

Fwiw, with the exception of Godzilla - which had terrible legs - those other 3 titles grossed another ~$102-$107M after their respective Wednesdays

Amazing Spider-Man 2 did $4.1M on it's first Wednesday after opening to $91M.

I have some way that Marvel solve the problem

Cease every project now,use one year to Think why current Marvel going to this way,refilming the Avengers V if they already started to film.

Find the Core ill ,why Marvel right now have insanely bad quality control.

30M 2nd weekend here we go.

Depends on how it plays out: If it plays more like a family movie like Sonic or even Uncharted, $36m-$37m second weekend but if it plays like Black Panther, it’ll be at just under $29m.

Given how strong PIB2 has fared this week versus how awful these drops have been for AM3 I think it's the latter.

How the hell was the last Harry Potter movie so frontloaded? It had good reception from what I've seen

It made $43.5m on midnights (when it was actually just midnight shows). It wasn't that it didn't make money after the first weekend, it was just that people really wanted to see it as soon as possible.
