MI series has been overreliance on Tom Cruise as a Star. Fallout benefit from Henry Cavil's in the cast but outside of that the MI7 has been Cruise solo time. None of the cast are actually big recognizable star. That actually means less fresh buzz for the franchise. Of course, I am still fully expecting a TGM-bump especially at the domestic market but I must say the bump isn't noticeable, or just yet.

I won’t tolerate the Hayley Atwell and Pom Klementieff disrespect in this house.

$7m pure Tuesday is solid  but this also means the hope of $100m by Sunday is gone.

If PIB2, ATOW, GOTG3, Elemental offer any guide, is that as long as the WOM is great, the hope of turning the tide is always there, for the big tentpoles at least.

The movie has been out here since for two days and the early WOM is great and fantastic. I am watching this Thursday 5pm, in a corporate event. We will fit 300 people in an PLF auditorium, on a regular working days. A hall would be otherwise only 30-40% filled under normal circumstances.

Would this be realistic for MI7 ? Would account to roughly 80M weekend.

Tuesday - 9M (all previews)

Wednesday - 10M

Thursday - 10M

Friday - 15M

Saturday - 20M

Sunday - 15M

It's adult skewing and looking at previous MI in the summer Friday should have a 75%+ jump and a 3.5 or so internal multi

I know I’m echoing some other comments here, but in my area MI7’s Friday shows are currently almost on par with todays shows already. Considering there are still 1.5 more days of pre-sales for Friday, I think this is going to be quite backloaded. Wouldn’t be surprised if the raves propel even more people into seeing it this weekend. And of course, there are a ton of Atom discount codes floating out there.

Can someone more familiar with these Atom deals explain… did they have to be claimed/tickets purchased yesterday for the next week or or two, or will people still have access to the deal for the rest of the week?

She's not in the MCU, so she might as well not exist.

See, that’s why we can’t have nice things. You legitimately post some good shit on the WGA / SAG thread and then turns around and do… this. Like, why? Rebecca was easily the best actor in Dune and I adored her in Doctor Sleep. I forgot to mention her but she is an amazing actress. I’m not to blame if she spend the last decade doing mostly M:I joints, it’s sort of like me not mentioning Simon Pegg despite adoring him. Come on now.

They can be used til 11:59pm Sun and can buy ANY ticket available on Atom.  I'll be buying 7 tickets (and using 3 codes), but I haven't decided if I'm buying for this weekend or next weekend (both are available).  Any time it's a big blockbuster, there's just more time to use it b/c theaters prebooks multiple weeks vs just the normal open 1 week...

So, it continues to backload, backload, and backload some more for bigger movies...

I think people expecting some 500 million grosser from MI7 are expecting to much.

if the film does 300-400 millon domestic it would be a massive hit.

No one's expecting 500 mill not even 300 mil. Not one of these films in the series has done more than 230 mil.

Just saw mission Impossible and I enjoyed it but the same things that annoyed me about FX also annoyed me about mi7. It just feels like it's jumped the shark in terms of action. Ethan isn't quite as invincible as Dom but it's not too far off. I was expecting him to get into an American muscle car and catch one of the girls in mid-air. Thankfully that didn't happen.

And again just my opinion but like Indiana Jones there were a few too many action scenes that seem to go on a bit too long.

Now that my complaints are out of the way I enjoyed a lot of the camaraderie that everybody seemed to have and the action scenes were fun and the motorcycle stunt off the mountain is pretty exhilarating. I don't know what I'd rank this movie right now but without letting it sit and marinate for a while I'd probably say 7 out of 10..
