I have done turds that look better than this.

I can't believe there's actual hype for this and it's not getting the same level of shit Cowboy Bebop or Death Note got. One Piece fans just have no standards I suppose?

This looks so odd and weird, it doesn't seem like something that would be a hit at all, and yet there seems to be a lot of hype for it. Is it getting bonus points for being incredibly faithful (no idea if this is true, I don't watch animes) to the source material or something?

Are there any major markets left for BB or It's already playing everywhere (but China)?

Australia, China, Japan and Korea. Probably won’t get a China date, unless WB removes a few certain lines from the film and i have no idea about Japan or Korea. Australia releases in two weeks

There's hype among the fanbase which is more than any other live action anime adaptation had. the like/dislike ratio on that trailer posted is good. i mean there's every chance anyone who's not already into One Piece is just gonna check it out and say "what the fuck am I looking at here?" so it may flop idk.

Oppenheimer potentially outgrossing Fast X which is (other than Avatar) the powerhouse franchise in International markets is wild to me.

Does it have about 80M OS still in the tank? I hope so. It already trounced everything but Barbie and Mario Os and GOTG Vol 3 should go down WW. Insane run.

Also late to the party but congrats to Barbie on becoming WB's #1 ever. :bravo::worthy:

Easy peasy. Its already at 487.8m as of tuesday and China has just opened and it still has runway in Europe/AU and even certain asia/LA regions. As I put in OS thread, Let us wait until saturday to project China total and that will help us project OS - Japan.

Basically hype is mainly because oda the creator of one piece was involved in this from casting n such stuff. But even if oda is involved this looks so weird because adopting anime especially action/adventure is very tough. Given the nature of its comedic moments which is mostly slapstick and smooth flow of fight scenes. This looks boring as hell.

"the creator is involved" really smells like "we got permission to use his name to get a blessing from the fanbase" frankly

there is no way a weekly serialised author on WSJ with a fuckload of extra responsibilities has the time to be *that* involved in a series being created and filmed on the other side of the world, if he was involved my guess would be his contribution didn't go that much further than a few comments here and there

OP fan here but getting really big cringe vibes from Netflix adaptation after seeing trailer, similar to Cowboy Bebop level cringe unfortunately

It's a very faithful casting on paper but the whole vibe is just a very western take lol but Netflix viewers will like it...I don't know...
