I'm just about to start a Bond Marathon for SPECTRE.  I've included NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN in the past three marathons in '06, '08, and '12, but not CASINO ROYALE '67, mainly because I don't own it yet.  Also, since it's effectively a Spymania spoof and significantly goofier than even the crazier Moore efforts, it would stick out like a sore thumb.  Maybe next time.

I've actually decided to do my own SPECTRE marathon - FRWL (skipping Dr No since I've watched it recently), Thunderball, YOLT (finished YOLT today), OHMSS and DAF tomorrow, then CR, QoS and Skyfall Sunday, before opening night 7:30 on Monday.

I wonder if Craig returns for Bond 25, will Mendes be back? I think he'll want a break from another blockbuster, he directed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and King Lear after he did Skyfall so I wouldn't be surprised if his next project is theatre related.

Mendes has already said he won't be back.  They had to basically beg to get him back for SPECTRE and even moved the filming a year back to accommodate him.

Hard to say. I think Craig goes if a new studio gets distribution rights though.

He's contracted for one more and I imagine whoever gets it whether it be Warner Bros, Sony again or whoever would want to keep him on. 

I think Mendes plans to direct Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Broadway, it's been a hit in London and WB have just been waiting for Mendes to finish with Spectre before they can start preparing the transfer.

If Craig does stay for one more I at least hope it's out by 2017. He's definitely looking long in the tooth now, and best to avoid that creepy 80's Roger Moore Bond territory.

So I just noticed a few connections between Casino Royale and Spectre... I wonder if they will reboot it again with the new Bond or just continue the story but ignoring Daniel Craig's Bond events. All of his movies have been connected. I don't remember that happening with Pierce Brosnan's Bond movies.

I also realized there is A LOT of unexplained stuff about Mads Mikkelsen's death (the dude that kills him is in Spectre's marketing, he also shows up again at the end watching Craig trying to save Eva Green).

They were planning this all along. They had this 5 movie arc planned from the start for Craig's Bond.

Basically - CR/QoS is Batman Begins, SF is TDK, SPECTRE is TDKR.

the only plus is the runtime of 148min

 

overall i'd wait for further reviews before generating an assessment.
