marveldcfox
The alien franchise has a ceiling. Despite great reviews, this drops 61%. Not good. China cannot save always, so execs should not green light the sequel.

ThomasNicole
Finally Kinds of Kindness released here … hilarious movie but it’s obvious this was never meant to commercial success. They can be happy with the Cannes win. Some lady got so mad in my screening at it’s repulsive nature that she had a vocal meltdown in the theater and made her son take her home in the middle of the movie … great experience

So 61% is only the estimate, and even if it does happen 100m is happening. also Disney is green lighting a sequel no matter what. It’s making at least 350m on an 80m budget

Any executive in Hollywood would greenlit a sequel for this and they will! Let the insane takes for Grace Randolph 8 1

Nero
I find it hilarious that people take Grace seriously even though it has been long established that she is often ignorant about box office or biased about some projects. Why do u guys even see her tweet? lol. She has been wrong before and she is going to be wrong again. She is not going to change either.

JimmyB
I just watched the 14 mins box office take from Grace Randolph on Alien and she's all over the place. She definitely believes the franchise is way bigger than it really is from a box office POV and general audience. She does make some good points. Being disappointed in the opening weekend and it not opening to 50m+ isnt an awful take. The tracking thread here had 50m looking very likely. Even after walkups were weak on Thursday mid 40s to upper 40s weekend was still being the target. She also says the franchise didnt expand past its older male demo and draw in new fans. That's a fair take with walkup being poor. She doesnt get to the budget until almost the end of her rant and says at least it was cheap and might turn a profit. Completely disagree with her on this. The movie is most likely meeting Disney's expectations. Disney released it in a end of summer dump spot. An 80m dollar movie grossing over 300m worldwide is a huge win,
