JAPAN BOX OFFICE | Demon Slayer breaks all time record for OW

Recommended Posts

52 multiplier today. Very low due to toho discount.1.1m day92.2m totalProjection7.9 m weekend tight hold with songs at the top of charts and national tv exposure14.5m week total105.6m total

I don't think 1.1m yesterday...very likely 0.9~1m coz only Toho has discount and other cinema ugly adm...

6m weekday I 'd be happy ...(However, according to the workday performance, I think 6m might not be accessible, probably 5m )

Despite the TV and new CM...many big screens will be given to Conan this weekend .. so Frozen

will lose some seats and face direct competition from Conan with mostly the same target audience..

7 m.... I 'd be satisfied...

So, for me, 13m will be a successful week , 12m is good, 11m is acceptable.

So is there really no foreseeable film that can stop Frozen? (not that I want anything to)

Conan will slow down Frozen...and Roman Bath 2  is a strong challenger...spiderman also has its markets...

Three of them combined can stop Frozen, I think. However, if Frozen 3D Dubbed and Singalong dubbed are all the rage...

then that will be another story.

I have to do this because it was such a silly post

TS3 still too high, people could be disappointed.TASM2 could hit it hard.MU is the target,90-95m would be absolutely crazy

Its already going to be at 90 when TASM2 opens. Japan is not a front loaded market. Both movies can thrive at same time. Different demo too. Frozen is crazy!

you're a goddamn genius Gump. you hit the number dead on. of course to remain correct you need a solar flare to knock out the power grid. But you wouldn't be able to brag because there would be no internet. so I will congratulate you in advance if that happens. the downside is we return to hunting and gathering and since you can't visualize a trajectory you're going to have a hard time killing boar with a spear. Probably starve to death. Good luck with that! You ride the short bus to school?

they aren't going to slow down frozen. They are going to get stomped. Why do you think studios hesitate to book something after TA2. Frozen is TA1, avatar, titanic, howls, SA right now. Conan producers are shitting their pants.

Toho 10286. Down 33%109 was up 3% over yesterday. Without discount toho mite have been 10k yesterday too. Its coming down to a "normal" midweek I guess. It could be price hike or be sellouts pushed people into the midweek in past weeks and hype demand is diminishing. The base demand will still be there for the weekends. No matter, as long as the weekends hold. Wed and sat are the important numbers.Need the ladies to show us a proper frozen drop tomorrow.0.75m day1.85m week93m totalProjection5.5m midweek7.5m weekend104m totallabas. How many seats did frozen have last weekend? The seats have fluctuated but the weekends have been the same. I believe they had a lot less at beginning of SB vs last weekend.

this said to be unprecedented in japan. Not in America though. You can look at jaws, star wars, et to see this kind of weekend action.

Wait, you're not seriously comparing Frozen with movies in the 70s are you? Like, really? You surely know it's a completely different era, with different release pattern and different situation, right? They may have similar results so far, but very different factors behind them. A piece of advice, don't post this in other threads, or you'd be laughed at.

Why would they take screens from an 8m weekend and give it to a 7m weekend. There are loads of sub 2m movies to takes screens from.Conan had a 7m weekend lasr year followed by a 2.6m midweek compared to frozens 8m. That number says just children. Not a complete direct competitor.18% drop? Trying to predict the change in trend. In my business, stick with the trend, less than 10% drop. You are a non believer, pump up those numbers. Your recent 130m total will be reached early in GW. :)

Well, turns out Conan will have a lot more seats than Frozen this weekend. So he's right, they do take screen from Frozen. Don't get me wrong, I think Frozen will hold well, but I think you're underestimating Conan's appeal.

Lowest Toho single day to date :(

counting on the ladies to post some strong numbers tommorow

if it follows last weeks pattern we could see a sub-10k toho thursday for the first time this week, though toho only accounts for 20% so it's more symbolic than anything else.

How much does Conan movies usually gross on OW??

Conan is especially strong in the first weekend, usually followed by a 40% in the second weekend.

So, it is not surprising they give Conan more seats. Conan has around 335 screens and many larger screens.

In Tokyo, some biggest screens still belong to Frozen this weekend but next weekend they will be given to Roman Bath 2.

However, the arrangement of the 150 screens 3D Dubbed Frozen is still unknown.
