Best Cinematography 2012

Recommended Posts

Can someone please explain this to me. This is what it says about Prometheus on IMDb:

Cinematographic process

Digital Intermediate (2K) (master format)

Redcode RAW (5K) (dual-strip 3-D) (source format)

Does this mean that the footage I saw when I watched Prometheus in the cinemas was 5K? I didn't even know cinema projectors could project that high a resolution. And compared to the IMAX footage in The Dark Knight Rises, which is the highest resolution?

Thx for any elaboration. :)

All I know is that it was shot with Red Epic cameras(the absolute state of the art, James Cameron plans to use these on Avatar 2) and has some of the best cinematography I've ever seen.

I'm thinking that if any blockbuster gets in, it'd be Skyfall, just a feeling, the Deakins cinematography looks gorgeous. On an unrelated note, I find it funny that you can get 4K projectors for home theatres yet most theatres still only project 2K.

Yeah, where I'm from there's only one cinema in the whole country that supports 4K, which is where I'll be this week to watch Skyfall. ;)

Skyfall cinematography was absolutely phenomenal.

Roger Deakins is a freaking genius.

The main dance scene in Anna K was friggin' crazy. Literally five minutes long like a single long shot weaving in and out of people.

With all the promotion Wells is doing and from what i understand of it, I sure am curious about Anna K. Seems a whole lot different then the stuff Wright has been doing before.
