I honestly think it's heading to a 220-230m finish, not even wishful thinking.

I predicted $244m from a $25.8m OD, so for it to end up no higher than $230m would be just bad.

In regards to the heat, in Australia the weather has a massive effect on the box office.As we get a pretty decent summer where most days you can go to the beach, when it gets hot (36C+), people don't bother going outside. And if people don't have air-con, they go to the shopping malls and the movies.Our 2nd/3rd biggest days this year where 36C+ days, and except for TDKR, they aren't going to be beaten.Cold/wet weather also makes movie business much busier.

They only rushed with the sequel date to lock in May from everyone else. It was more a strategy. It's not like this is Green Lateran, it's Spider-man. They know Spidey will make up the difference internationally.

Studios always claim they have trilogy plans! Not a new and/or uncommon claim. Hell, George Lucas has been lying for decades claiming Star Wars was always going to be a massive set of trilogies. Nope. It was supposed to be a one and done homage to 30s/40s serials.

Wait a second, Ted and Magic Mike also dropped? WTF? Yesterday should have played like a hybrid Saturday/Sunday with stronger matinees than normal and weaker evening shows than what you might see on Friday/Saturday. Yes, there are a lot of people who have better things to do on July 4th than go to the movies, but it still doesn't make much sense even in that context.

I think discount tuesday boost these days are bigger than usual. That translates to worse than normal drop on wednesday. May be ASM's OD was inflated big time because of tuesday opening. It will drop hard on wednesday and thursday bigger than usual. But recover better over the weekend.Still ASM is doing better than expected at this point. Its lock for 250M+ for sure.

But then there'd be no effect at all for the films that decreased on Wednesday (except for TASM). It might as well have been any week.

It's kind of amazing to me that Thor and CA have higher percentages than half of the Spider-Man movies. I know there's nothing in it between the average ratings, but still...

Tuesday definitely wasn't like a Saturday because it was a work day. However, its night business would be similar to a Friday night. Wednesday should have played like a hybrid Saturday/Sunday except a bit weaker because many people spend the 4th of July partying instead of going to the movies. I can understand Spidey dropping because it had midnights. But it's inexplicable that MM and Ted dropped.

Every movie increased the last time the 4th ended up on a Wed (2007). *shrug* The heat isn't anything new. Much of the country has been in a heatwave for a week now. I'm not sure what's going on...
