I think of the original as 'the greatest boring movie ever made'. I don't bother recommending it to anyone but the most patient of friends. Even early 80s audiences who didn't have nearly as much ADD as today's viewers found it trying.

I'd be willing to bet my house there'll still be a shit-load of neon lights and garish advertising.

 

But to be honest when you're complaining about a Blade Runner movie being gloomy, you might as well call it a day.
