The47th
Paramount has really been incompetent when it has come to marketing the anniversary and this film.
Goffe
there's not much they could have done. the film is baaaad. if the franchise gets another entry like this one, paramount might as well bury the kelvin timeline for good. robertman2
Just start a religion of Trek if you want a fourth movie. Like in Futurama

Yeah, and they sold a good movie; the Sabotage trailer was good #SorryNotSorry

Kalo
That opening in China is impressive, I really think there will be a fourth film made, most likely with a much smaller budget. but all they have to do is make a good film and market it better and it should be able to increase from STB, they really need to work on selling it internationally though. It's a great franchise, even forgetting the original TV series (which given the lack of tie in to the movie sure seems to have forgotten about the theatrical side.) I wasn't an old star trek fan, I signed up with '09, and these are simply great movies whether you sign on to Trek culture or not. It could definitely be sold internationally, and I agree it needs to be.

Just because Abrams didn't direct? If Abrams doesn't direct, it's bad by default?

RichWS
I went to the library today and randomly picked up and read The Fifty-Year Mission: The First 25 Years. Had NO idea until an hour ago it's the 50th anniversary. My big takeaway from the book? Walter Koenig sure loves to complain about everything.

No. It's bad by default because Lin is objectively a bad filmmaker, a filmmaker that plays it safe whenever he can. As we saw with TFA, not even Abrams is immune to what is ruining blockbusters. Captain Craig
I wish Beyond could've gotten to $160m Domestic now. That theater drop is expected but a bummer for this upcoming weekend. Down to 748 theaters, maybe the Discount Theater push??? Maybe? I fan can hope can't he?
trifle
Quote First Details on STAR TREK BEYOND Blu-ray Features We’re still awaiting Paramount’s official announcement on the release of STAR TREK BEYOND on home video, but today we have our first idea of the bonus features expected to accompany the newest Trek film, from the UK’s film rating commission. Similar to the MPAA of the United States, the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) rates movies and home media releases for audiences in the UK, including ratings for the Value Added Material (VAM) – aka bonus features – that accompanies DVD and Blu-ray releases in that region. While there’s no mention of any audio commentary track, the BBFC have rated two discs worth of VAM for the upcoming release. (Note: this list remains unconfirmed and subject to change until Paramount makes their official release announcement.) The first disc of content clocks in at just over an hour, and includes about a minute of deleted scenes along with ten other features. 01:00 – DELETED SCENES10:05 – BEYOND THE DARKNESS04:28 – ENTERPRISE TAKEDOWN08:13 – DIVIDED AND CONQUERED05:12 – A WARPED SENSE OF REVENGE03:03 – TREKKING IN THE DESERT05:59 – EXPLORING STRANGE NEW WORLDS08:01 – NEW LIFE AND NEW CIVILIZATIONS07:48 – TO LIVE LONG AND PROSPER05:01 – FOR LEONARD AND ANTON05:10 – GAG REEL The first disc’s content also looks to be included in the iTunes digital release of the film, which is previewed now on that streaming service’s BEYOND listing. more at link http://trekcore.com/blog/2016/09/first-details-on-possible-star-trek-beyond-blu-ray-features/ I accidentally posted this in international first -- I should read my search results more carefully...
