kayumanggi
Wowza. ALIEN: COVENANT will now inhabit summer, as Fox bumps Ridley Scott's flick up two months from 10/6/17 to 8/4/17. — Exhibitor Relations (@ERCboxoffice) February 28, 2016

Maxmoser3
August is a good release time. But October wasn't horrendous either.
CJohn
I think they should have stayed in October tbh.

It won't have as strong of holds since it won't be around Halloween but if the movie is actually good legs will be stronger going into September. grim22
Good date but I wonder if they will get IMAX screens since Dunkirk will have a big IMAX contract for sure. October may have worked better for sure IMO.
TheMovieman
Might've moved as there's an untitled Fox/Marvel movie set for October 7, 2017 (rumor is it could be Gambit or Wolverine 3).

Who knows but that could be why Alien: Covenant moved.

grim22
http://collider.com/alien-day-sneakers-screenings/?utm_source=twitter&utm_campaign=collidersocial&utm_medium=social Quote Fox wants to do some Alien marketing. Unfortunately, it’s been 37 years sinceAlien, and that’s not a nice round number. However, it has been 30 years sinceAliens, but you want to pay homage to both movies, and not wait until July whenAliens was released. How do you pull it off? Go for a deep cut instead—LV426, and isn’t that really just April 26th when you look at it in a marketing friendly way? Yes, Fox is turning April 26th into “Alien Day”, which the press release describes as “an out-of-this-world global celebration of the ALIEN franchise culminating with a special 24 hour, fan-focused social media event.” The day will “encompass a wide range of executions including nationwide screenings, never-before-seen consumer product activations and the kickoff of the ALIEN: Ultimate Trivia Challenge, allowing fans to test their ALIEN knowledge – with the chance to win memorable prizes every 42.6 minutes on Twitter.” Executions! Product activations! What more could you want!Fox also seems to have recognized how badly people latch onto certain minor aspects of movies like Marty’s futuristic Nikes from Back to the Future Part II. They’ve responded with Reebok’s Alien Stomper Sneakers, “an exact replica of the ALIEN High-Top Stompers worn by Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley.” Those shoes will be available starting on April 26th in select Reebok stores and at reebok.com.
