THG had a multiplier of 2.675

CF had a multiplier of 2.686

If MJ1 finishes with $338m, that will mean a 2.76 multiplier.

It's the first blockbuster franchise in history where each sequel had better legs than its predecessor.

Impressive.

The one-two punch of unbroken and hobbit totally killed exodus. Fox is ending on a sour note after a fantastic year.

yeah unfortunately. but they're still the number 1 Studio of the year for the first time in forever. so I think they'll be okay :P

Looked at the LOTR showdown on BOM. Fellowship was extremely leggy, all other movies earned around 45-70M post the first weekend of January. Fellowship earned 110M post that same date, it must have had some amazing word of mouth.

DOS and ROTK are actually the most frontloaded, DOS only earned an additional 15% in box office post the new year and ROTK earned 22%.

Let's not miss the forest for the trees here. CF's legs were super impressive (and HG), but MJ1's legs only look good because this movie is significantly smaller than the previous ones.

I just wonder. Is there any other franchise that has done the same?

After the reviews and lack of award recognition most would have been surprised at UB getting over 100m.

But apparently it's critic proof.

It's also an inspirational piece and those tend to go over well with moviegoers, so it's not that surprising that it's doing well.
