For an original musical, it's fantastic, only La La Land did more and it's insane that Pasek and Paul now that two hit movie musicals under their name plus Dear Evan Hansen.

Not to mention winning Golden Globe 2 years in a row, a Tony, and possibly an Oscar also for 2nd consecutive year. And they're nominated for 2 Grammys and could win those too. All of that in just a little more than a year.

^I agree with what was said there. The whole time I kept thinking, damn I should hate this for how it's romanticizing this guy when I don't even have to do any research to know he was no saint, but dammit if this doesn't do what it sets out to very well. It very much indeed is a "passionate and bedazzling" Hollywood concoction, and taking it as such it's pretty much an all out triumph.

Crazy about the hold. I think this will hit 100+. The music is actually extremely memorable, which was probably the most shocking part of all of it for me.

Wow, strong praise by MovieMan. I might have to check this out.

Love the boxoffice run...

Yup, eating crow over this one. Sounds like its quality was as I expected, but its BO is clearly way above my bombs away guesses.

55% RT score but 90% audience rating....haha. I wonder what other films saw such disparity.

Should be closer to 95m after Monday - and over 100m by next weekend. 120m is done unless it just outright collapses between now and it's close.

well looks like I was a bit lite in the estimate! 98m go figure... Should hit 100m by Thursday give or take.

After two weeks at the top of the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, the soundtrack is dropping to number 2 this week, though it actually sold more copies.

Quote

As it turns out, The Greatest Showman — which had spent the past two weeks at No. 1 — falls to No. 2 with 104,000 units (increasing by 1 percent compared to the previous week). The Greatest Showman actually beats Camila in traditional album sales (70,000 vs. 65,000) and is the top-selling album of the week. Camila was able to come out on top on the Billboard 200 over The Greatest Showman thanks to TEA units and SEA units. Camila earned 16,000 TEA units (vs. 8,000 for Showman) and 38,000 SEA units (vs. 26,000 for Showman).

The movie made another $11M overseas.

Fox’s crowd-pleaser found $11M more under the big-top in 67 markets this weekend. The UK saw a mere 1% drop this session for $22.8M to date and Australia has grossed $15.6M with a 23% drop in the 4th weekend. The international cume on the Hugh Jackman-starrer is now $118M. Also notable, Mexico’s cume is $10.6M, and Spain fell just 26% in the 4th weekend to cume $6.1M so far. In Singapore, the showbiz origins story was No. 1 in its 4th frame. Next weekend, the troupe will take a bow in France.

Total Lifetime Grosses
Domestic:  $113,480,607    49.0%
Foreign:  $118,000,000    51.0%

Worldwide:  $231,480,607
