I dont see how you guys can praise directors after 1-2 movies either. I never know half these directors yall talk about, but they make one solid short film and everyones like "OMG LET HIM DIRECT AVENGERS 3!" Well you gotta start somewhere, I guess.

It doesn't matter who directs Avengers 3.

I have no idea what DOA is.

Telemachos already gave the long version.

I am guessing you never watched one of these two movies?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0042369/

(remake)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094933/

Not sure if it existed before 1950, but could be as e.g. in WWII pilots... sometimes managed to land their planes but didn't survive long enough to leave the plane for their injuries and other situations why the acronym might have developed earlier

I see it rather often used in actual articles....

What a stunning way to kick off Spring.

But whatever, this is just the calm before the storm.

Will this challenge Star Wars and break the OW record as well?

You know you have to shoulder most of the blame for the 50 Shades OW being considered a letdown in the forum discussions right?

That does look... not like a movie I'd watch without a really compelling reason...

DOA I also know for projects (e.g.; reason for it not thought through or situation changed), fundings not working out, some new gadget needing too much time till it hits the market (as in other companies technology already surpassed it) and so on.

And in ERs,... when a patient didn't make it through the transport...

It's interesting to learn about some ~ 'terms' seemingly not as generally in use than me - still learning English - thought about it since literally decades

(I really liked the 1950 version then, not all actors.. but quite interesting,...)

Yes, I know  Still disappointed about the DOM performance of that one

This will do well. I think 80M is possible right now.

You really enjoy causing deaths and destructions left and right, don't you? How much more until you're satisfied?

Your avatar fits CJohn's reaction to all underwhelming numbers perfectly

Focus seems to actually be holding well, and the spin for Chappie has begun: http://deadline.com/2015/03/chappie-unfinished-business-thursday-preview-box-office-1201387427/

According to mid-day industry estimates, Sony/Media Rights Capital’s Chappie from director Neill Blomkamp is tracking above studio weekend estimates of $14M, looking at $16M with an eye on a $5.5M Friday at 3,201 theaters. Sure, that’s lower than opening days of the director’s previous two films — 2009’s District 9 (opening day $14.16M, weekend $37.4M) and 2013’s Elysium(opening day $11M, weekend $29.8M) — but both those titles were August launches when a number of college kids and upper teens were off from school.

Warner Bros’ Focus is on track for only a 44% second-weekend decline per industry projections, with $10.4M and a total of $35M by Sunday. The Will Smith-starrer is expected to slot second today with $3.1M at 3,323 playdates.

In third, Fox Searchlight’s The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is looking at an estimated $3M for Friday at 1,573 theaters and an opening weekend of $9.08M.

20th Century Fox’s Unfinished Business is tracking for a $2.2M-$2.5M Friday at 2,777 in fourth, on course for a $5M-$6M bow.

So this is the worst start to March in years? If so there needs to be some rebound because Chappie is the equivalent to a robotic turd, Unfinished Business gets fired, and only one is somewhat opening good and that's a sequel appealing to an older audience wow! I'm hoping we do not have anymore of these shit weekends this year
