I feel sorry for the folks watching AQP when this is playing in the auditorium next door. :o

Ever since New Line went belly up as a independent studio, and became a division of Warners Films, Warners has kept them..except for the Hobbit movies...on a pretty strict budgetary diet.

Jack the Giant Slayer was New Line and cost nearly $200m, I imagine Shazam will be $120-130m.

why? they are not even the same age rating let alone competition for each other. not to mention aqp is a horror movie so will drop hard next week anyway.

They're both PG-13 movies.  Do agree they're not competition for each other though.

This is just wrong. Look at Split, Get Out, It, Don't Breathe or The Conjuring - if a horror movie gets great WOM - such is the case with AQP - it can have really good legs and avoid a harsh drop.

AMC doesn't even have rampage tickets available to purchase for previews or Friday. They had A quiet place and ready player one far in advance for purchase. Weird.

My AMC doesnt have them up but other ones do

All of my theaters have them, but they're mostly regional chains (GHTC and Marquee Cinemas). There's just one Regal theater within my distance, and even they have ticket sales in advance.

This is going to underperform...

I have yet to see a TV spot yet alone an onslaught of them

I forgot who said it here but ever since the buzz of Ready Player One, A Quiet Place, and Infinity War have taken center stage in the media, this movie has gone below our noses.

Was a bit over 20m spent on tv a good 2 weeks before release:

WB is not know to go cheap on the tv ads (tend to be the biggest spender on them), I would imagine we will see it quite a bit during the nhl playoff starting this wednesday.

Not sure what to make of those fandango pre-sales number too, some hours it is outsold by Truth or Dare, must imagine it will pick up tomorrow or after tomorrow (and Avengers will be some kind of monster):
