I told people here that this region would be very important for Dory, thanks to this unexpected start in Brazil $1B is now more likely :)

I know

We just love Pixar and Nemo :D

Hope to see a huge breakout in the UK and especially Japan

I just found out on BoxOfficeMojo that this movie is currently doing better here in Argentina than every European country it has opened in. That's crazy, isn't it?

Argentina loves animation.

2015: Minions and Inside Out topped last year ranking.

2014: Frozen was second just behind local hit Relatos Salvajes.

2013: Monsters University and DM2 topped the rank.

2012: Ice Age 4 was the biggest film.

2011: Cars 2 ranked 1st, Puss in Boots #3, and Rio, KFP2 and Tangled were #5, #6 and #7.

2010: Both Toy Story 3 and Shrek 4 were the top films, topping Avatar...

Said this, yes, it is quite relevant that Argentina can top big European markets, specially France, where Nemo already grossed $65m in 2003. I guess that Euro Football Cup is damaging the BO.

it could have zoo's legs. you never know. its release date is really good with obon week helping have great multi.

No, it's probably not going to have Zootopia's multiplier. The reason why Zootopia had long legs is because people didn't know quite what it was until they saw it. You can't say the same about Finding Dory.

or Frozen. That had hype leading to release and had HUGE OW. still had crazy multiplier. even TS3 had pretty good multi.

Not every movie is going to be like Frozen. And Frozen itself was not a sequel like Finding Dory is.

Anyways:

I'm expecting Monsters University numbers.  Sequel to a popular movie but doesn't quite live up to the first.  Could do better because it's a better sequel than MU, but could fall short because of changing market and taste.  Sequel multiplier is rarely going to be as big as an original.

MU made ¥9B. I'm really expecting a ¥1B opening for Finding Dory and a final total of ¥10B.

It might be the only movie this year that overtakes Zootopia in Japan. One Piece Gold might have a shot, and it's a major competitor for Finding Dory in terms of screens.
