Yeah, in a way Alita is a hard sell... it is a YA romance story, but viewed from a more mature place (teens do dumb things and their grand romantic gestures will be cheesy ) wrapped into a coming of age story wrapped into a visceral action movie with a ton of hard scifi.

And on top of that it is now used by alt-right types as an excuse for bashing disney/marvel 😕

When Captain Marvel opens bigger than Batman V Superman which only had an opening of 166M the true popularity difference between Marvel and DC will be obvious. 

 

If Captain Marvel really does have a bigger opening than BvS that really is damning for DC. Because that isn't even about the quality difference of the two movies. A movie opening is all about the interest of the general public.

 

DC has been reduced to nothing by Marvel. Superheroes like Superman and Batman that years ago were seen as the cream of superheroes are being reduced to nobodies by Marvel.

DC just had a billion dollar hit. Also people already know that Marvel is more popular on the big screen. Captain Marvel's opening will prove nothing new. Some of you are just bizarrely butt hurt that Captain Marvel's reviews are good but not great. As if that makes the reviews bad or something. Your expectations were just over the top. Like I said hardcore MCU fanbots are just as obnoxious as hardcore DCU fanbots.

 

Anyway, Batman v Superman would have opened with 190mil at least if WB hadn't hired a frat boy who read one philosophy book to helm it.
