Alpha
1 hour ago, riczhang said: LOL ya. I have a pretty good feeling about Trumbo now. The SAG nominations leader hasn't missed BP for a long while now. I don't know about BP, most likely Actor for Cranston, Supporting Actress for Mirren and nothing more. One thing's for sure, this awards season has definitely been an oddity.
Impact
Out of the SAG noms-the only 2 that I actually think will be nominated for picture are Spotlight and Big Short. Possibly Trumbo. Surprised Martian and Carol are MIA-as for Revenant, not so much as it seems there are really just 2 people in the film. Yes there are others but just 2 stand out performances. Eh, the Martian didn't really have great ensemble. Damon was great, but everyone else was just serviceable. Bridge of Spies and Carol are the two I am surprised missed. Im feeling Trumbo is a fluke because of Cranston love from TV actors. But then again, this whole awards season is weird. There really aren't any true frontrunners like there usually are, even in acting categories. Spotlight's pretty much the frontrunner by default. Best Actor could go in a variety of directions, while Id think Larson is in the lead for actress, Blanchett looks strong. No clue about who's winning best supporting actress, only Mark Rylance is the only real frontrunner for an acting category and even with him that could easily change. The field is pretty much open right now.
Ezen Baklattan
Trumbo has a lot of big actors in it: Cranston, Mirren, John Goodman, Diane Lane, Louis C.K, Elle Fanning, Michael Stuhlbarg, so it's not as much of a surprise. However, Steve Jobs not showing up in Ensemble isn't a good sign for a BP nod.

Ezen Baklattan
Lots of Sicario love. Still haven't seen the bloody thing. IO missing from BP is disappointing, but the line-up is strong otherwise. Mad Max getting in seems a lot more likely now for BP.
stripe
After Critics Choice Awards, I think it's pretty obvious Revenant, Spotlight, Mad Max, Room, Carol, The Martian and The Big Short all will be nommed. That's 7 films. Then, there's a strong fight between Brooklyn, Inside Out, Bridge of Spies. And as possible surprises: Creed, SW7, Sicario and Straight Outta Compton. stripe
There are some BFCA members that have resigned after they were asked if they would have nommed TFA if that movie was seen in time. What if all that BFCA controverse hurts TFA chances as a BP nominee?

WrathOfHan
In the past decade, the only time the Oscar winner for Editing missed an ACE nomination was Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. This might be the final nail in the coffin for Spotlight IMO. Edited January 4, 2016 by WrathOfHan
