Brain Gardner ,who wrote the original Novel "Death Wish" was honest enough to admit he had very mixed feelings about the film: It made him a lot of money,but he always really hated that it took the main point of his novel "Vigilantes become as dangerous as the people they hunt down" and turned it upside down, making a hero out of the Vigilante main character.
