Agreed. The Wrap reported MJ1 at $25m (Catching Fire's number) and then it turned out to be $17m.

Then again DL reported 30 million as late as 930 pm.  Could late shows really have done 10 mill more than anticipated?  That's seems to be a stretch.

Deadline said the East Coast shows were at 50% of TFA's East Coast shows. Would require insane over-performance by the rest of the country to go from a $28.5m pace to $40m.

But also Deadline is wrong on these kind of things. A lot. I don't believe $40m either, but their range for last night was 25-40m. Really high confidence there.

No chance this did $40M. But, based on folks here, the WC sellout counts looked far greater than the EC sellout counts. So, that being the case, I'm thinking $35M in previews.

i would be very surprised by 40m considering there isn't close to as much hype as dh2's midnight. it would be a sign that thursday previews are becoming standard moviegoing

Again, Disney released the previews # for TFA last year at 11:45am. So it could still be another hour.

Disney's trying to torment everyone here. They won't release the preview numbers at all and we'll all have to wait until tomorrow morning. Back to the early 2000s we go!
