Not sure what to think of that Rings number. The movie is a sequel having some fucking awful WOM, and there's no special occasion like Friday the 13th to boost it like TBBM.

 

That Space Between Us number is laughably bad

Expected for Space. It's not a movie that was going to gross a lot in previews.

Both of these movies were moved around the schedule a lot. It was clear their studios had no faith in them.

SB weekend is rarely exciting but it has really trended to the toilet for years now.  May be a long time before we see another $20m opener in this frame.

That's because not even the studios care about these movies. Rings was shot in early 2015 and was supposed to originally come out on November 13 the same year before getting bumped around the schedule. Paramount knew they had a turd on their hands.

4 years ago was Warm Bodies that debuted with $20 million and near $70 million state side.

This is one franchise that should've stopped after the first movie. The Ring Two was horrible and this looks even worse.

The movie looks like hot garbage (and the fact that I keep seeing it on Youtube ads doesn't help) but those reviews are downright savage.
