Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 | May 5, 2023 | The 9th most profitable film of 2023

BTW that type of no one can ever change no matter what crap hurts minorities more than anyone. Believe me, us people of color will suffer more from that mentality than a rich white dude like Gunn. That no one can ever change crap is what racist ass America uses to take voting rights away from black people for past crimes.

That would be a funny outcome, but the MCU has a much better track record with third films than second ones so far in defiance of the general trend.

Iron Man:3>2

Cap: 3<2, but still great

Thor: 3>>>2

Avengers: 3>>>2

Every MCU threequel has been a BO and critical success so far. And with MCU’s general track record I dont think thats something to worry about

In each of those cases except for Captain America, the second film has been lackluster.  Following two great films and ending a trilogy with another great film is harder.

Lastly, I would add that being tought moral lessons by the CEOs and suits of the

Disney Corporation

is the definition of Irony Itself.

:apocalypse::wintf::redcapes::insane::hahaha:

Because we all know Corporate America ( or any big worldwide company for that matter) is built on moral and virtues, because of course.

That little Baby Groot you bought at Wall Mart was assembled by a foreigner fairly compensated for his work, far away from the home of the New Puritans.

It s so beautiful how tolerant you all are to modern slavery.

I am tolerant too !

Oh it is hard no doubt about that. But MCU’s record with sequels is unnaturally great, almost unparalleled. Every single MCU sequel (with sole exception of AoU) has increased over its predecessor.

Not saying that GotG3 will necessarily follow that trend but the above fact does give some confidence in the fact that it might do well despite not increasing over the 2nd one.

Ofcourse a new director could completely misunderstand the style and tone of these movies and make a mess of it. Which is also one of the reason why I want James Gunn back (although I wouldnt mind Taika Waititi either)

One thing I would bet money on is that if it’s avengers 4 or GOTG vol 3 marvel is done with the guardians after this lol there’s no way in hell theyre gonna be contracted back to any movie after prolonging this controversy that Disney just wanted to wash their hands with.

also with the future inclusion of the Fox properties lol

It’s not just about having weak 2nd films:

Iron Man: 1>>3

Cap: 3>1

Thor: 3>>1

Avengers: 3>1

MCU just has a history of great threequels so far (with a pretty small sample size, so it’s not like this is a hard and fast rule or anything).

So it seems Iger is on vacation right now. lol sucks for him his vacation was probably spent stressing over this lame controversy.

Doubt it. It is probably not even on his radar, and nothing compared to the Roseanne cancellation (including financially).

The key is the third films tends to be radically different from the other two. Iron Man 3 and Thor Ragnarok were tonally different from their predecessors, Civil War was also a sequel to Age of Ultron and Infinity War added a bunch of characters not in the previous two Avengers film.

Apparently that will be a very small hit, hard to even perceive on Disney bottom if at all, Roseanne was not an ABC owned show making it quite easier for them to cancel.

Another reason the cancellation will not have a longer-term financial impact: the series is not owned by Disney but rather independent production company Carsey-Werner. In fact, Disney Media Distribution, Disney’s international sales arm, had a first window to close global sales on the revival’s first season before rights reverted back Carsey-Werner and its own sales division.

The show was not even mentioned at all in the Q2 conference call for how little relevance it had.

I think the best idea is to ignore the twitter PC mob outrage for 1-3 days and you most likely get away from the issues as most people on Twitter that get worked up about such things have the attention span of a goldfish.
